Is that really true? How does apple helps everyday? What vitamins does it contains? I always see on billboards, newspapers and even hear this on radio and always seen it on television... are we advisable to eat apple everyday? Will eating 300 pieces or more apples a YEAR will prevent us from diseases and stay us fit?

Lets think about it rationally...if Apples could truly keep the Doctors away them the supermarkets would be selling them at a crazy marked up price and branding them a super food!
I guess the Idea behind it is really just to eat more fruit everyday y'know. eating apples everyday will leave you feeling more satisfied and energetic than eating a bag of crisps or a chocolate bar anyway. Just remember to brush those teethe if you plan on trying it out because apples are loaded with natural sugars.

Yes apples are loaded with natural sugars and eating too much of it may start off a toothache.. So it means now that eating different kind of fruits everyday keeps us from getting sick? But this is my question... why apple? and yes if apple, markets will be selling them on highest price and consider it as a super food..

It might simply be that wherever the phrase originated that apples where the most common and readily available fruit.
If i was you, i'd just hit up the shops and buy myself a whole bowl of the stuff. Thats what i do anyway. Had at least 10 portions of fruit and veg today...

i think keeping the doctors away is not the real meaning which the saying implies, its more on saying it, to see not the doctors which i believe the writer concern is the doctors fee afterward...otherwise if apple shall do it all, better not to pursue a medical course but rather plant an apple tree

I think an apple has lots of vitamins and high content fiber especially the outer part. I always eat apple in the past but its very expensive in my area so I stick to
vegetables. It can prevent disease which is unbelievable but its true, why would everybody who eats fruits have longer life because it has lot of antioxidant that has
good benefits.

It isn't true that an apple a day keeps the doctor away. People believed that apple has good healing properties but it turned out to be false. Apple of course is good. Researches suggest that it may reduce the risk of developing lung cancer, colon cancer and prostate cancer and helps regulate bowel movements
