What is Meditation?

How it was done properly? Is it really helpful a lot? Im not done this things yet. Im just curious.

you just clear your mind and either to try to not think about anything or just focus on one thing while controlling your breathing and after awhile it helps you relax and eventually with a lot of practice it relives stress and etc
