How do you prioritize your workload?

This is really a problem for me. In my work I was given a project that was supposed to be finished back in March (I entered the office in April) and I was given another project that is supposed to be finished in July. Both were given in July and I'm really finding it hard to finish both because I don't know which I should finish first. The July Project was being asked from me by a colleague who was originally the one who should be doing it. The March Project is being asked by the clients already. So if you were me which would you prioritize first?

Hi there magojordan!
Personally, I would work on the March Project. I think that the clients are more important. Besides, the July Project was supposed to have been done by your colleague. Not unless, you grabbed the project from your colleague. Because if you did, you are duty bound to accomplish it no matter what.
Time management is very important in any job. Yeah, sometimes it is easier said than done. But it must really be observed for our own good.

I have a hard time organizing my workload as well, but I must say that it is important to do so. As for your situation I would ask someone in your office who knows a little better about how things work around there. It seems that the March work should be done first, but quickly.

I would ask your boss which one is more important. I'm assuming he/she knows your colleague asked you to finish the newer project, and it seems that if the project was already months overdue and they handed it off to the newest worker, it is probably not very high priority. But, if you are dealing with the clients directly, you also don't what them to feel slighted.
I would definately ask someone higher up which to tackle first, since you may ultimately be held responsible for the completion of both projects.

Hi,
I would do the project asked by the client. It is because client should be placed as the first priority.
You can ask your colleague to help you do the project that he is originally doing. It is quite impossible to finish 2 projects alone.
Best of luck.

I would do the project which has been asked by the client. As a Business person you must give priority to the client. The other project should have been started before you join so it's not your fault. At the same time you must try to internally manage with your colleague.
Caregorise the work based on Importance and Urgentness. First do the both important and urgent work. Last to be done is the least important and urgent work.

For me im going to prioritized the most important project and what would be needed first. If the client ask the March project so you do it first, the project that you colleague asked, will be your second priority coz the most important is your client which can bring money to you. happy myloting!
