Does anyone happen to know what country Smurf village was located?

I know it may seem a bit strange to be asking such a question, but I believe there would have had to been ome sort of background to the show. Does anyone have any thoughts about this? For some reason I think it would have been located in some German forest.

the Country would be Europe The Smurfs (Les Schtroumpfs in French) are a fictional group of small sky blue creatures who live somewhere in the forests of Europe. The Belgian cartoonist Peyo introduced Smurfs to the world, but English-speakers perhaps know them best through the animated television series from Hanna-Barbera Productions, The Smurfs.

Everybody sing "LA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA!" How can we forget that song, it's so easy to remember with just one sound. "Do you Smurf what country we come from?" "Have a Smurffy day?" Ha ha! They always replaced words with smurf. But this is a interesting question. Now I'm wondering myself. I think it would be somewhere in England somewhere hidden in the forest. I remember sometimes they would have befriend some royal subjects if I remember correctly.
