Hello guys... I recently made a discussion here about a week about about whether Federer can and whether he would win The US Open 2008. Now is the 9th, of September and the US Open 2008 is over with Federer winning his first Grand Slam of the year in emphatic style. He rolled over Andy Murray - The British number 1 in straight sets except for the slight hiccup in the 2nd set but he regrouped and won it very comfortably in the end. Now the discussion that I had here was titled; "Can and Will Federer win the 2008 US Open?" and I was involved in a intense discussion with my friend from myLot - sirrob. So that disucssion along with Federer rollover and his 5th consecutive US Open Grand Slam Title, it got me thinking. Is Roger Federer back to his best? Is he back to his vintage form? Is he at the the top of his game at the moment? Is he back and ready to reclaim the number 1 spot from Rafael Nadal who got the ranking less than a month ago. I for one dfinitely think that Roger Federer is back to his vintage best. The way he played in this tournament was esquisite. I thought he played sublime tennis and I have not seen him play like this the whole year. He confidence is back and he will now be rearing to play more tournaments before going after the elusive season ending Masters Cup in Shanghai. So what do you myLotters think about Roger Federer. Do post all your views and opinions here.

Roger is one of my favorite tennis player. The way he played in the US Open finals only shows his back. I think one of the commentators even said that his goo for 4 to 5 years and they think that he can surpass the record set by Sampras of having 14 grandslam titles. I do hope it happens. The win in the 2008 US Open will give him confidence and everybody is excited on how he's gonna perform in the Australian Open next year. Even Murray stated that their finals game clears all doubts and sets the record straight regarding Roger.

And many have notice that he comes to the net a lot often these days and it's an added spark in his game. With his great footwork it's very hard to beat him if his at his best condition. I think he just have to focus a little bit more and not let overwhelmed by the situation. Can't wait for next year's grand slam events!

Yeah. Coming to the net is making it very hard for the opponent to get shots in. Except I saw Djokovic and get some really good ones past Federer at the net so that was good. Yes, just like Connors or Bjorg.. Federer is a person who is very hard to beat when he is in his best condition. Instead of waiting for next years Grand Slams... why not look forward to The Shanghai Masters Series in China! It is going to be amazing this year! I am really looking forward to it!

Yes. He is one of my favorite tennis players too. I totally agree. His play at the US Open has shown that he is capable of coming back after a slump. He has 13 Grand Slam TItles in his bag and is only one behind tieing Pete Sampras's record of 14. I am pretty sure he will tie it next year at the very least and most probably he will break it too. So if it happens next year and then he will have 3-4 years left after next year, well in those 3-4 years he can possibly go up to 20 Gran Slam Titles! Wow. That is a hell of a lot of trophies. What about the season ending Masters Cup in Shanghai? He is going to win that and he will be back with the season ending and year ending numbner 1 ranking!

We Indians believe that nobody can replace Sachin neither Amitabh Bacchan, so is the case with Roger Federer he is simply superb in his field,at courts he looks and plays like a fiercely warrior throwing balls of fire on his opponents... One thing for sure "OLD IS GOLD"

It is not only cause he can't be replaced because he certainly can. It is because he is just too good at the moment and he is back to ruling the courts once again.
