If you had to lose one of your five senses, which would it be and why?

If you had to lose one of your five main senses (sight, touch, taste, sound, smell), which would it be and why? I would probably choose taste. If I couldn't taste anything I wouldn't want to pig out on junk and could lose these last few pounds! I would only be eating for the nutrients. I couldn't lose the other four - I wouldn't be able to look at my pretty little girl, I wouldn't be able to hear her sweet little voice and her girly giggle or hear music, I wouldn't be able to smell certain things that invoke special memories, and I wouldn't be able to feel the hugs that my child gives me. That would all be horrible!

I would have to say taste. I already cannot taste things sometimes anyway due to my allergies. I could also probably lose some weight if I couldn't taste anything.

Who says I WANT people to lose their senses? It's just a hypothetical question.

Food - Bowl of food
Sight is essential. Hearing is the next most important. I don't know how one would lose the sense of touch but let's hold onto that one too. The sense of smell is underrated. Nearly half of what we taste is influenced by smell. Smell can alert us of danger. While I enjoy the taste in a good meal I would say I would chose to lose the sense of taste if I had to lose one sense.

You have a good point with keeping your senses and loosing taste. However, I love taste and would have a hard time living without it. I think if I had to choose one I would loose my hearing. I already know a lot of sign language and know that there are a lot of tools and resources that can make it possible to live a normal life. But then I could taste wonderful foods still!

Smell. I have sinus issues so I usually can't smell anything anyway, so it wouldn't be that big of a loss.
