Silly Hermit Crab

I have two hermit crabs and they used to love each other, and spend every second together. Now I had to make a divider to put in the tank cause the orange one wants to keep attacking the yellow one. I read that the male hermit crab when the woman is "in heat" so to speak will crawl in her shell and do the deed. well I do not know if my hermies are girls or boys but my yellow one is terrified of the orange and the orange wont leave the yellow alone. Last night he decided that if he got the sand wet and dug a hole he could reach the yellow....geeezz. I included a picture of his wet digging... Anyone have any advice on what is going on?
