I rarely use photoshop or any other tool to correct my pictures. Because we can't change or control the forces of nature, we have to shoot in harmony with nature. We should use the forces of nature in a way that it will make our pictures look better.

I disagree. How is nature going to make a photo better? Retouch it on photoshop, print if off again and its as good as new...it doesnt matter if its not the original, its back to its original condition and its the same photo

If we are talking about old photos that are damaged by time and are naturally degrading, I think it's ok to do some re-touching. I thought the discussion was about how we use nature and the forces of nature as our subject when shooting.

I think Adobe Photoshop is a must for digital photographs like the darkroom for film photographs. Me, I always use photoshop in enhancing my photographs. I always modify the photo on how I saw it before I took the shot. I always enhance the exposure, colors, and sharpness of my photos.

Well, it may affect the photo, but don't you think nature to be beautiful enough. Some things are there in nature, which as a single unit in the whole nature may look ugly, but as in the whole - it is beautiful. In its surrounding, it does look beautiful - IMO. I haven't come across a thing that doesn't look good. Well, I am talking about nature, and it doesn't include any of the man-made things. If I were to change some or the other thing - then, yes, I do use Photoshop -and its Photoshop only! I use Photoshop CS3 and it works fine, it has a lot of options. *naughty here - I sometimes feel naughty and I pick up some good celebrity picture and paint them so bad, specially their teeth (if visible) - I make them perfect golden yellow! lol...

I think that Photoshop is a necessary part of the digital photographic process. When you shoot with film, you edit your photo in the darkroom. You adjust the contrast, compensate for an incorrect exposure if necessary, burn and dodge any spots that need it, crop the image, etc. Once you have the print, you may even need to use some retouching dyes to fix a few things. If you don't develop your photos yourself, when you drop your photos off at the lab, they do the editing. So it only makes sense that you'd use the same techniques with your digital photos! Photoshop does much of the same things a darkroom can do! Except it's faster, easier and you don't need any chemicals! Post-processing is a very important part of the photographic process... whether you do it in the darkroom, or on your computer!

it depends on what picture i work on, depends on what i want to happen or how will the picture will come out especially when i work on a different kind of art but for nature photography or landscape i rarely use photoshop not unless i put my name on it and a border.
