Call centre's in India are training people to get an American Accent,do you feel comfortable with the American accent,or do you think that only good quality and correct usage of English is sufficient to make you comfortable?

I believe you really have to learn how speak english with an American accent. That way, the customer you are talking too (in this case, an American) would really feel secure and at home with how you speak. Plus, the customer will 100% understand what you're trying to say.

Okay, but the people in call centres are not Americans, and it would be a bit difficult expecting this from these people who have just learnt a foriegn accent. Thanks for your response:)

I think for you to be able to become an effective call centre agent, you must be good with American Accent. And since there are so many kinds of American accent, a good CSR should learn all of that. I am from Phil and last December I attended a finishing course as a call centre agent, I observed a lot of people here were very good. They can easily adapt with the American accent. They say two months of working as a CSR will already improve your american accent.
