scientists say that dogs has a longer memory than cats..yes because sometimes when my cat is afraid of something, like for example, a black shoe if you show it to him for the first time accidentally, he will scratch it and run away like crazy in my room very fast for 1 min maybe and then after that i hide the shoe then when the next morning comes, he seems calm and playful when i put him again in my room and the black shoe is just beside him..does he really forget the experience last night about the shoe or just cats has a shorter memory or maybe my cat is rare? what do you think myloters?

My cats remember stuff very well. Our male cat is actually a scardy cat and doesn't like people he doesn't know. When my sister will have her friends over {which are mainly all guys} he will NOT be seen in the same room as them. He will run away and hide in my room and NOT come out until they are gone. My sister had her cats when she was with her ex boyfriend and they lived here for a little. Cotton {our male} LOVED him and would let him hold him like a baby and would never leave his side. He was never like that with anyone else. Then they broke up he moved out and he attached to me only letting me hold him like a baby and would be with me all the time. Her ex hasn't been here for a couple months and they just started talking again. He came over for the first time in a couple months 2 nights ago and Cotton did not run out of the room when he came in. He didn't go close to him though but didn't run. Her ex lost a lot of weight so looks different but we think he remembers his voice. He was petting him and everything and he didn't run but he couldn't get that close to him with out him running. Just the fact that he didn't go darting out of the room like a bat out of hell like he usually does is a sign that he DID remember him after all of those months of not seeing him. I think a lot of people under estimate the intelligence of cats. They both come to their names, come when their treats are shaken. A lot of people say it is because it is food but my friend's cats don't do that or my sisters. Our girl cat sits when you tell her to. We have very intelligent cat's. I think cat's can remember stuff and people just as long as dog's can.
