Have you ever experienced finding yourself in an embarrassing situation in public where everyone cannot help but notice your embarrassment? Like slipping on a banana peel or something else which caused you to fall down flat on your face or on your rump? Like having your false teeth (if you have them) stick to something you tried to bite or fall out when you sneezed? Like being told that your zipper is open?Like having the heel (high heels) of your shoe break off on yur way to the podium and many other similar situations? How did you react? With poise or withcomplete shame and embarrassment?

And what did you do when you slippied on the banana peel? id you feel embarrassed or ashamed or felt self conscious and showed it in the way you acted? Or did you just get up and walked away as though nothing had happened? if you did the latter, then you have poise because poise is the ability to act as thopugh everything is normal or nothing embarrassing has happened everytime you catch yourself in a situation that would ordinaruily cause a lot of embarrassment. Like when you slip and fall flat on your face but you stand, brush off your clothes and smile at everyone and continue to where you are going as though nothing embarrassing happened. Or when you are in front of a lot of people and suddenly your pants fell down and all you do is just pull them up, say something witty and continue with what you are doing. presence of mind may be important.
