Do you think they've gone nust over words?

Do you think the debate over words in politics, is getting a tad ridiculous? In Europe they sue each other lots over this.. and can even be jailed.. (So much for free speech.) The most recent I've heard is the whole lipstick fiasco.. I highly doubt Senator Obama was liking Sarah Palin to a pig with lipstick! (Gimme a break!) And also the outrage over a senator (I think it was) saying the Obamas seem to him, to think of themselves as "uppity" and elitist - I wouldn't make such a public statement myself, but it did verge on the ridiculous to say it was a racial slur. I don't know how words were used more than half a century ago.. so hopefully no one would judge my words by that standard.. - I just think all such is bordering on the ridiculous.. Political ads for kindergartners..?

I don't know what's the reason why politicians throw mud at each others face, just to make their name sound over the state. They're really gone nuts about it. Instead of throwing mud, why don't focus themselves over political platforms and achieving them. I can't even see a good leader out of those type of person. Instead of running, why don't just keep on throwing mud at real life until they satisfy themselves.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! I fear it won't be long before we see this type of thng trying to creep it's way in to our own legislation. Grahm was right, we ARE a nation of whiners. Kindergarden, juvenile, crying, over sensative, spineless WHINERS. "WAAAA! he called me a pig!.....Waaaaaa! she said I was fat!.......Waaaaaaaa!" CRIPE! ENOUGH AMERICA, your ALL in time out!

This presidential campaign season has seen more mudslinging then actual, full and balanced talk on the issues at hand. Every time one of the candidates decides to talk about the issues at hand, it appears that they can easily get distracted because the other decides to go after the other for past history or something that they have hidden in their closet. Here in the United States, once an individual decides to run for political office, that person better be ready to be scrutinized for everything he/she has done since being a child. The media in this country has really done an incredible job in distorting the views of the candidates and doing everything that they can to make this an incredibly hard year of decisions for the American voter. I know who I am voting for, yet, I do wish that the ludicrous remarks about this and that and lipstick and pigs and pit bulls and hockey mom's can go away. This is not making it easy to understand where we are headed and how our future is going to be laid out for us. No matter what we do, believe me, our governments will always be part of our lives and watch out, freedoms as we knew them will be gone.

Exactly! I also hate it when one or the other then blasts the other for smear tactics.. so indignant like both sides don't do it, and then they proceed to smear yet more.. I would so much more, like to hear not what's bad about the other guy/party but what their actual vision and plans are, and why..

I try to avoid watching TV during the political campaign as much as possible. Evidentally I missed something. I know there was a comment about Obama being "uppidy". I didn't get the racial slur thing. Was the comment thought to be a racial slur? I agree though. It is so silly. None of the issues make the news. Only the war on words.

Yes, it was said to be a racial slur because (unbeknown to me) it used to be a word used against black folks seeking equality in society. Not nice that! To be sure! But not too likely a speaker would nowadays intend it that way.. Perhaps someone waay older with a repeated tendency of such things.. - Turning off the news.. now there's a thought!
