OK - so I don't always agree with so-called "Texas justice" since they tend to be a bit too hard-core for my tastes, but there are some things that take place there that I can definitely appreciate, like this story. http://www.cnn.com/2003/US/Southwest/02/26/taped.defendant.ap/index.html Seems the defendant didn't take seriously either his right or his mandate to remain silent, so the judge did what he had to do (or appeared to have to do). Sometimes a non-traditional tactic is the best response. What do you think?

If that was the only way to shut the guy up, then so be it. lol I bet it hurt like mad when the tape was pulled off. Bet it didn't teach the guy a lesson either.

If I were that judge I would have wanted to tape his mouth shut too. Obviously his rambling on did not help his case any since he got convicted.

Probably not. I doubt he learned anything, either. She'd better watch her back when he's released.

Oh this one is so funny. But I do have to agree that the judge was only doing what he needed to do. Maybe next time the defendent will keep his trap shut. or maybe than again if he wasn't smart enough to keep his trap shut this time more than likely he will not the next time either. Some people will just never learn but this was needed.

I agree. And, I doubt it made him any smarter!

Being a Texan I also agree with you about not always agreeing with the Texas Justice. But this is a good one. Now I wonder if he will try to sue the judge. I wouldn't doubt it since it seems like so many people want to sue.

Sorry for the delay - had a few things distracting me lately. I thought this one was pretty classic for ANY jurisdiction, but particularly Texas.
