Some courts are calling for a dress code

I heard this story on the radio yesterday. I don't know if it is local or not, but two judges have made dress codes for their court rooms.
The banned items include:
* Pajamas
* Shirts with obscene words
* Shorts
* Hair curlers
* Hanging pants
* Visible underwear
Now, I haven't spent a lot of time in courts, but I know that you need to dress nice to go to court - as clean cut and professional as you can get - out of respect not only for the court, but for yourself and your image.
I find this quite sad. People don't even have respect for themselves, let alone the courts.

I have been in courts were people were so disrespectful to the court with what they have worn. I don't think that people should be allowed to wear these things to court. They are there for a reason and the last thing people need in court is another distraction. My least likely thing to see in court is girls that have their chests hanging out and guys that are showing more than have of there underwear or boxers. This is so disrespectful.

People who dress like that should not even be allowed in any government building - even the ones that hand out food stamps and whatnot. There is no reason to dress like that.

Unfortunately, too many people don't know how to dress for the occasion anymore! You'd think people would know better than to appear before a judge in pajamas and curlers, for pete's sake! or an obscene t-shirt! Our society is lacking in respect, not only for ourselves and authority figures, but simple respect for each other as individuals. It's sad.

I would LOVE to see a judge enforce this, especially in the inner city courts. My parents would kill me if I showed up in anything less than business casual to court.

I totally agree. How can you just show up to court like that. Especially if it is you that is on trial here. And then sometimes people wonder why things don't go their way in court. Well, you might want to take a look at what you are wearing. I can't believe that some people would just go to court like that especially in hair rollers. I mean come on now.
I once interned in a court house and oh my God, dress code can not only be the problem. There was this lady and yes she was on trial. Tell me why she sat in the court room waiting for her turn to be next eating a taco. I'm like OMG come on lady. A taco. And to make things worst she was in pj's and hair rollers. Do you think she got off on her trial. Nope. She didn't.
