Kids speak out

Once I had my son in to see a doctor about his diet and weight loss. The doctor was talking to him about not having so much sugar in his diet, and out of the blue my son commneted, "Mom steals those little sugar packets from restaruants." I could just imagine the doctor was thinking I dumped the sugar packets into my purse when no one was looking. I have occasionally stuck a few packets in my purse instead of throwing them out if the waitress gives me too much, but I don't take them if they are available on the table. It occurred to me that my son had completely misunderstood my actions, so I explained to him it isn't stealing if you take it instead of throwing it out. Has your little angel ever put you on the spot by speaking his mind?

That sounds familiar. I never had it happen to me, but it happened to friends of mine. The children got this very mean look, but I guess with kids, they do not understand. It is funny when you think about it. I mean to a kid, taking sugar packets is the same as stealing things from stores, soap from motels, etc. They are unable to distinguish between taking deliberately or keeping the extra ones the waitress gives you. Well I do not need a child to embarrass me, I have a husband who if I decide to put an extra butter cup in my purse asks "why are you doing that?"
But now that I have my Old Age Security, I do not need to.

LOL...yeah something like that!
My oldest once told my mom that "Mommy and Daddy stay up at night watching adult movies." She didn't mean x-rated stuff, but it sure sounded that way!

I know I did something similar when I was a child..
My Mum had ''borrowed'' a book from my friend's Mum without asking first as she knew she wouldn't let her (she was going to put it back.) and I spoke about the book with the ''pretty orange cover that Mummy reads in the bath'' infront of my friend's mum, haha.

Kids can sure tell on ya. Usually they don't even know they're doing it, they are just making conversation.
