Seems Obama isn't the Only one That Likes Lipstick on a Pig

I've really had it with the lipstick on a Pig trash. I hope that this video of McCain using the same additive towards Hillary can help all of the McCain supporters move on. Take a look at the video. Can we now move on from this idiocy? The Republican said it the Democrat said it, what's the difference? Is this far more important than the issues? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WMPYkNQlJMM

John McCain and his supporters are the definition of the word "hypocrite". It's OK for John McCain to use the same phrase regarding Hillary Clinton, but it's an outrage if Barack Obama does the same. This is just another example of John McCain clouding the issues and being afraid to discuss the issues facing the average American citizen. He has no plan for dealing with the record home foreclosures. He has no plan for dealing with over 40 million Americans without affordable healthcare. He has no plans for reducing the record budget deficit. He has no plans for anything. All he has is a campaign full of lies and smears. Why did Sarah Palin even accept the VP spot if she couldn't take the heat? Are we to let her just go on the attack mode without any reply at all? John McCain and Sarah Palin now seem week and overly sensitive. Sarah Palin needs to speak for herself. If she is so strong, then why can't she respond to this issue. Instead she gets on a plane and heads home. Bottom line. If she can stand the heat, then stay out of the kitchen. Lloyd

Thank you for the + rating. I need it. Just today my rating went down from 94/100 to 93/100. It seems as if some people can't handle the truth. They can't debate the facts, so they do the only thing available to them and give a negative rating. If they think that will stop me from stating the facts, then they are sadly mistaken. Lloyd

I regret that I can only give you 1 "+" for your comment. I know all the truth you are speaking. As you can see my post showing that both of them have done it just didn't work out well. Geeze I can't believe this election. I can't wait to vote and get it over with. Thanks for the great comment.

You're welcome. I give everyone that responses to my discussion a "+" even when I don't agree with them. I figured that it's the least I can do since they took their time to respond.

Now this is proof positive we're on the same wavelength; I was just working on a discussion on this very topic, I have the same link copied and ready to post. Thanks for saving me the trouble. Of course, we both know it's obviously sexist since a Republican is in the picture now but that was sooooo different when McCain was attacking Hillary. Annie

I actually watched a clip compilation on MSNBC a little while ago, it's astounding. I agree though, I think most regular folks aren't arguing that...lipstickgate, as a few members are fondly calling it *smiles* isn't a real issue, nor is it important. Political smokescreen! Whooo...it's gonna get old real quick.

I agree, I think it's much easier to point the finger to try an draw attention off of allthe other issues going on.

I'm to the point where I'm almost considering discontinuing my use of lipstick! LOL I've had it with this too. I've also had it with the "Obama thinks he's Jesus" discussion. Nobody was fliping out back in May when Sue Everhart compared McCain to Jesus. This whole thing has gotten ridiculous. I almost have hit the point where I'm going to stop watching political news, but I keep doing it because I'm afraid that they will get back to the actual issues and I'll miss it!

Based on the other thread today discussing Obama's statements I think most people agree, it was clearly not intended as an insult to Sarah Palin. The only issue is that many on both sides think it was. The democrats at that speech laughed at it because they thought it was an insult. Either way it'll probably die down in a day or two.

I believe they were laughing at what they thought was an insult because they laughed before he finished. As soon as he said "You can put lipstick on a pig" the crowd roared with laughter. I honestly think it threw off his rhythm because he wasn't expecting a response until he finished. When they looked back on it, I'm sure most understood what he was saying, but at that moment they immediately thought he was making fun of her. The context of his statement however makes it very clear that she had nothing to do with what he was saying.

I agree with you but I think this is just a one day story, Zeph. Tomorrow it will be something else. Personally, I'm tired of everyone's speeches and would like things to move on to more interviews and debates.

I thought the lipstick on a pig thing was the republicans all along, or am I forgetting something? That damn election got so far out of hand, it's hard to remember who said what, anymore!!

You're telling me! But, McCain said it first and then Obama said it. I had never heard that term before I think it's weird, who starting putting lipstick on a pig to get the phrase? LOL

Well that's not the first time Obama has put his foot in his mouth and I'm sure it wont be the last. As for the issues I'm not even sure Obama even knows what they are. And if he does he doesn't know how to address them. The only "change" he knows is to try to change today what he said yesterday. With Hillary out of the race smart democrats will be voting for the republicans this election. Too bad Obama didn't have sense enough to pick Hillary as his VP. He lost a lot of votes when he screwed up on that.

I didn't start this discussion for it to turn into a p*ssing match. They both (both means McCain and Obama) used the wording. It's over with done with everyone needs to move on.

I think the "lipstick on a pig" analogy has been overused to the extreme in this campaign. The analogy should be canned now that there is a woman on the ticket, and one who has alrealy used a lipstick analogy about herself, though in a more positive context. These guys should be thinking, lipstick has a distinctly feminine connotation, and there is a woman on the ticket now, so don't use that analogy any more. To continue using it would be insensitive. How about just sticking with "fish wrapped in paper." It's less offensive to women.

However, who cares if it was "insensitive" or "offensive" when it was direct at Hillary when she was still running to be on the ticket? Shouldn't McCain have been thinking "lipstick has a distinctly feminine connotation", or is it OK since it was Hillary , a Democrat, rather than ultra-conservative Palin? Since Palin has "used a lipstick analogy about herself" she now OWNS the word? Give me a break! Annie

I just think that analogy has outlived its purpose. Surely they can come up with some new ones. There wouldn't BE a controversy if it wasn't offensive to someone, and it's only an ANALOGY. They could find a better way to say it.

There was a woman on the ticket when McCain used it as well. I wasn't running around screaming how awful McCain was for that and I was a Hillary supporter. It's just all nonsense and the other side needs to get over it. The politicans don't need to use analogies, the citizens of this country are far from stupid.

X, Take a breath, count to 5. Did you read my discussion or just the title? I was trying to point out the fact that this is actually something that people say. I have read all the other posts on this and everyone seems to think Obama invented this saying. I am in full agreement that everyone needs to move on, that's why I included it in the post. Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks for this link Zep. Even if those who are all bent and venting about Obama lipstick comment would find no difference in hearing McCain making the same remark. I am an Obama supporter and will be voting for him. Once again we have an individual who is for the people. I for one don't want another month of what we are dealing with economically. McCain in office means disaster as we would continue to spiral downward. Obama did not create the economic mess we are in. If the Bush administration had a plan to fix it ( all the worse since the economy has gone to the hot place in the last 8 years). How the hamburger can anyone live on the minimum wage rate? Like I've commented before. keep doing the same thing and you keep getting the same results. I will do my part and vote. Thank God for M.L King and the dreams/changes he had that many felt would never happen. Only because they couldn't see the plan.

Sorry kisan, I liked Hillary, I supported her, I couldn't cast my vote for McCain because I wasn't voting for Hillary only because of her gender. McCain will now attract voters that share Palin's views, and Hillary supporters who were only supporting gender.
