Have you ever experienced drowning in air?

This very early morning, I suddenly woke up gasping and choking and coughing a lot to be able to breathe. I thought I was drowning in air. It was a terrible experience. I was not having a nightmare but it was so sudden and my heartbeat was very fast. I thought I was already dying as it took me almost thirty seconds before I was able to cough out and take in air through my throat. I felt there was something or I think air which is blocking my throat and no matter how I breathe through my nose and my mouth I really can't breathe. Have you ever had that experience because I'm really afraid to experience that again. Do you think I have to see a doctor even if it just happened once? I will really appreciate any response.

you might need advair or have sometype of allergy problem. i would definetly see a doctor about this. i mean i might be something serious. if you cant breathe that would cause me to get checked out. especially if i dont know the reason. good luck with that.

As far as I know, my only allergy is allergic rhinitis or allergy to all sorts of dusts and very strong scents. As of the time I posted this discussion, I have really monitored my sleep and requested my husband to keep track on me too at night. But thanks God, I haven't experienced it yet and I wish never to really experience it again. I hope that was just an abnormal and rare case really. Thanks for responding.
