So I'm very curious as to why women have to shave their legs. I know its because women feel they must be soft and what ever but when did this trend start?! Have women always been anti-hair? 2 questions: 1) For those who date women: Would you date a woman who didn't shave her legs? 2) Women: would you feel comfortable being seen with unshaven hairy legs? I know this is a bit off the wall and we don't like to think of such things. However I'm just curious as to why its become a requirement. Thanks! Happy mylotting.

I think that most guys feel the same way. What I still don't get is when the shaving started... and what guys used to think back in the old days.

In my country, shaved or unshaven legs doesn't really matter unless you're a celebrity or a model. Most girls here don't shave their legs. Most men find it appealing. but a shaved armpits is really a big deal. hellooo....

That is very different! In the U.S men don't find hair really that attractive any where on the body below the face lol... I wonder how we as a society agree on whats hot and whats not...

i am really feel so uncomfortable with my unshaven hairy legs. it just looks so disgusting. when im young, when im so playful, i ever used a scissor to cut the leg hair. and as the result, it's been a horrible 10 years to see that my hairy leg is as worse as man does. it's so contrasting for me as a daughter as my mum leg is so smooth without need to shave her leg hair. i feel so inferior whenever i see other women's leg. but i've not tried to shave it yet because i've heard about so many negative remarks on shaving. afterall it's only for temporary. i told myself that once i've earned enough money, i shall go to the laser hair removal, coz it's permanent :D anyone try it before?

Until you have not resorted to it you are comfortable and when you started and do not repeat it will not be comfortable for you. Why to play natural beauty have you any feelings for this and if so comment.

I can't stand being hairy! I even shave my "danger zone". :P There are times I get a bit lazy and let them get a bit pass stubble - then I usually just attack it with some Nair. I've tried waxing, but, it's a bit hard for me to handle, lol.

I really hate the fact that I have to shave my legs and armpits. It's a shame, I don't think anyone even notices. Nobody has ever said "Hey, nice shave!" I try not to do it in the winter when nobody is going to see anyway. But really, you do it one day and it's back two days later. Why do I have to make so much of an effort just to be socially acceptable? Guys just comb their hair and put pants on and go out the door. I have to be hidden from the world until the sight of me does not make people scream. I don't like how we have to say "I have to shave" because "shaving" is such a manly word. Shave. The first think I think of when I hear that word is men shaving their face.

I admitted that I have the most hair on my leg compared to all my siblings (except my brother of course) but I never feel uncomfortable or whatsoever. Its true I will think of getting my legs shaved sometimes but its not an urgent need. My mother had told me that once you have shaved your leg hairs, you have to do it regularly because the hair grows very fast and its become coarser too. I do not know if its true but I have seen women with curly and coarse leg hairs just like a man's and I certainly do not want to have that. Im not that bothered about my leg hair for now but if in the future I have the money to remove it permamnentlt, maybe I will.

in my case ..i really dont mind or really care shaving the hair of my legs..since im lazy on that part..and i dont have any hair on that part(not visible i guess) i think having some hairs on legs will add some x factors on the appeal on women..of course if the hais on the legs is long and curly same as that of the man..then surely if i have that kind of hair on that part i will shave it..not really good to look at..

Women don't have to shave of course, they do it mostly I think because in some societies it is expected. My last girlfriend didn't shave anything. My daughter (who I am not related too) occasionally shaves her legs (only like if she is wearing a 2 piece bikini) but not her pits. I find it odd that women shave at all, I don't think I would do it, I could be wrong though since I am not walking around sporting a beard (though my mustache is probably older than half the people on here... )

I never had a hairy legs so i didnt experience the need to shave my legs to feel soft. I dont like to have hairy legs either lol. Why it is necessary? because it is not pleasant to see a woman who has hairy legs. For a guy to have a hairy legs it is normal but for a woman to have hairy legs is not. Woman are very particular with there looks and hygiene. From top to bottom we always see to it that we look clean and nice looking. Not just for guys to appreciate us but it is our way of pampering ourselves. There is nothing wrong with it. I think it is even a good habit. To keep yourself clean and pleasant looking is a very positive attitude. It is one way of loving yourself. It is not a requirement but it is a choice. Nobody requires a woman to shave they just thought it is nice to have a flawless and soft legs.
