I just started a Spanish language class on Tuesday evenings and so far I am really enjoying it. My teacher is from Venezuela so that is excellent. I am learning Spanish because I love traveling in Central America and hope to go traveling in South America in the future. I hope to find out more about places in South America so I can plan where I wish to go. Do you have a flair for learning foreign languages? Would Spanish or another language be useful for you? If you know a foreign language how did you learn it and did you try in out whilst traveling?

Unfortunately I do not have the 'flair' to be able to learn another language my friend, I did try so hard at school to learn French but I struggled and not having a good tutor was the main problem as well as the class not behaving, I did get CSE French (I am showing my age with CSE!) but just a grade 4. I wish I was pushed and had better schooling. I have tried to pick it up again on those teach yourself courses but I really need a good teacher, so I gave up sadly. I hope you do well in fact I know you will excel in Spanish, good luck my friend and it will come in so much useful when you travel to Spanish speaking countries!

I know that a great teacher or tutor can make all the difference. It was a shame that the other students didn't behave in your French lessons. I learned French at school for five years and we were the first year to do the GCSE. That shows my age and at the time I wished could do O levels. I studied in the Netherlands and learned a small amount of Dutch. However the local spoke perfect English. Thanks for hoping that I will do really well with learning Spanish my friend Wolfie.

I know of a lot of people that are taking spanish lessons. I guess it helps when travelling and since a lot of people go to Mexico for winter holidays it is probably a wise choice. My daughter's boyfriend is from the Dominion Republic and he speaks fluent Spanish and very little English so my daughter is teaching him English and he is teaching her Spanish. They also have books and tapes to help them along, I don't think I am adventurous enough because I have absolutly no interest what so ever to learn another language. I am almost 52 and too old to teach new tricks, so to speak. Alrighty then, talk to you later my friend, Have a good mylotting day, Chris
