Blessed Rain!

Ahhhh! I love this time of year. Sweet blessed rain! No thunder, no lightening, no wind! (Is this really West Texas)? I know those of you along the coast are saying SHUT UP about rain! but it's been dry and hot here for a long while and when we do get rain, it comes with thunder storms and wind. It is so unusual to have JUST rain falling nice and gentle, soaking in. Are you enjoying rain, or are you being pummeled with the effects of the hurricanes? Or maybe it's dry and hot where you are.

Dadgum it is hot as heck around here! It rains everyday and is still hot and muggy. We have the wind, rain and thunder most afternoon and nights as well. Most of the time i don't mind it, i just rather not be on the road and want my kids home from school and safe.

It is 11:20a.m. and I am sitting here looking out my living room window and it has gotten so dark that i had to turn on the light so i could see to type and the wind is REALLY blowing quite nicely. Yep there is the thunder, i guess the lighting will catch up shortly and there is the rain! It is going to be a lazy day around here.

You're catching the outflow from Ike and possibly Lowell. We're just getting the effects of the low pressure system it's creating.

We always get something from any weather that moves through the S.E. I don't mind it for the most part and although it is still dark and the wind is still blowing the rain has already quit, of course it could resume any minute.LOL

We have had rain, and a lot of over cast skies the past two days. It looks like today is going to be hot and muggy. I DO love the gentle, soft rains, though. I like to open the door and step out on the porch, and just breath in the freshness of it. I have always liked the smell that comes just before a rain, then the smell of the air as the rain begins to fall. But, then again, I like the smell of fresh mud!*LOL*

MMMM yes I love the smell of rain. I also like the sound of it on this metal roof when it's just soft and gentle. It's scarey when it sounds like something pounding on the roof wanting in! Fresh mud, . Reminds me of mud pies and little brother.

*LOL* Yep. "If you want to play with us, you have to eat these mud pies first!" They must have been desperate to eat those things just so they could do whatever it was we were doing. Awwwwww, I my little brothers.

I remember those days, lol, used to live in the Hill Country. And I remember going months without rain and the stock tanks dryin up. I now live in the northeast and our high today was around 70, we didn't have much of a hot summer this year either. My sister is headed to the Hill country to get away from the hurricane, she lives down by Galveston. We're supposed to get some rain tomorrow evening and through the weekend. What part of west Texas?

Where I am in Trinidad, West Indies, its first, a hot weather and then, usually within the same day, a torrent of rain. I love the cold, wet weather. You feel homely, comfortable and cool. But in this place the drainage is very poor so there are lots of floods. Yesterday the lower part of Port of Spain, the capital city was a lake up to a half a foot up the sides of buildings. Although, as you said, blessed rain !

LOL I guess it's just human nature to complain. The rain has stopped here for now, but more to come in the next two days. The main part of Lubbock Tx got up to 7 inches of rain yesterday. All schools, day care centers the City Hall and I don't know what all else are closed today because of the flooding. We complain because it's too hot and dry, then because it's too wet! We are fortunate here. It's just flooding, no torrents of water sweeping homes away or anything like that.

It's not that dry where i am now. I live in North Carolina and we also have thunderstorm and Hurricanes here. But thanks it doesn't reach the place where I am. Just happened in some parts of North Carolina. About rain, yes, right now it is raining here. It has been almost a week raining here but no thunderstorm this time. I don't like when it is raining, though I am not going out, I am just inside the house but I don't like wet environment and the down pouring of rain. But anyway, most people said, Rain is a blessing.

I don't think I'd last very long in a place that habitually has weeks of clouds and rain. It's been 4 days here without sun and I'm about to go nuts! I think they call it SAD, and boy am I sad!

I am hoping that Ike will bring the rain that is promised! I hope it doesn't bring bad winds and other bad stuff. I totally agree that this has been an awful summer
