What's with Matt Damon?

He has said publicly that Sarah Palin becoming the VP candidate is "like a bad Disney movie". He seems to feel that she's too "folksy"!

Hmmm, Gidget Goes to the White House! George Bush has always been pretty "folksy", hasn't he?

I personally don't see anything wrong with being "folksy" and it definitely is not an indication that someone isn't intelligent!

Well, I hope the he11 not because I've always been "folksy", which made me stand out among the very proper academics I used to have to deal with when I lived in Maryland. I used to joke that I was the only redneck at the college...which was probably the truth now that I can look back on the place. I fit in just fine down here in Hooterville.

I don't think that, but maybe that is what this country could use right now - some folksey, down home, country pride, family raising, blue collar fighters. what has been running this country for so many many years is the upper, uppity 'never been without" kind of people. Haven't had a "blue collar" person in office or even near it in .... how long? Can't remember! Maybe that is what is needed for the president, whom ever he may be... to bring their efforts back to this country instead of always sending to to other countries and letting the USA fall by the way side. I mean, a hurricane just hit, been so many I forget their names, but just hit New Orleans...again.. and they estimate damage between 8-10 billion dollars. But has any money gone there yet? Not that i have heard, but Georgia gets attacked by Russia and the final bullet hasn't even been shot and we are sending 8 billion dollars over there for reconstruction. I don't think a "folksey" person would have done that!

Yeah, and truth be known, probably not many of the celebs that promote Obama know anything about him or what he plans to do or anythign else- Hollywood is always Democrate and those that are not, can't mention that they are Rep or they get black listed...so I have heard a few say.

And forgot to mention - with regard to Matt Damon - I am so sick of hollywood celebrities being so self righteous and high and mighty these days. Who the heck does he think he is? What has he done to be so uppity and great acting? Bet he has never missed a meal or been homeless in his life. Always had at least what he needed and didn't have to work to hard for it. I just hate haveing to hear about all of them and what they do for charity - as usually it is always for another country..not the USA that made them what they are today. Don't adopt kids from the USA...go to another country and help those kids. Don't build a school for underprivledged children here in USA..go build it in Africa. Dont' help the health crisis here in USA...go do it in another country. Sorry, can' think of a single celebrity that I'd give a rats back side about what they have to say!

I totally agree - we see celebrities helping people in other countries, but few help those in need in our country. I do notice that the country music people and the Nascar racers/owners are the ones that do help those in need in America. Obama seems to have a large number of celebrity supporters. Unfortunately, a lot of what they are spouting in his support is actually hurting him instead.

I think that is the best political comment so far this campaign. Did you actually read the article? I laughed so hard that I almost fell off my chair. he is so right about the remark. "You do the actuary tables, there's a one out of three chance, if not more, that McCain doesn't survive his first term, and it'll be President Palin," said Damon... "It's like a really bad Disney movie, "The Hockey Mom.' Oh, I'm just a hockey mom from Alaska, and she's president," said Damon. "She's facing down Vladimir Putin and using the folksy stuff she learned at the hockey rink. It's absurd." http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,420621,00.html

Yes, I did read the entire article and I think Matt Damon has just shown himself to be an arrogant jerk! If that's all he has gotten out of what Sarah Palin herself has said and what she has accomplished in the past - then I would have to question HIS intelligence!

Thats what the Big Oil Companies thought when they told her they need big government money tobuild the pipe line or no one would build it. You have to deal with us and do what we want. The "Folksy" lady beat them adn got the largest pipeline project in the world built without the original Oil Executives. i would advise Vladimir Putin and other world leaders to remember the little boy who made the Russians back down (JFK), Rosa Parks who was the spark for the Civil Rights Movement, Don't Forget Mohandas ("Mahatma") Gandhi who brought the British Empire to its knees with a new way of doing things, Then there are the "folksy" Americans that defeated the best standing Army in the world, Don't forget what those "folksy" Hockey Players did in 1980. Give me the "folksy" lady over the others.

You are obviously a very blind and ignorant person. Damon had good reason to say what he said. You're just caught up in all the campaign agendas that politicians throw out to convince poor, unsuspecting people like yourself jump on their campaign bandwagon. It's how they get votes.

I've seen the video of what you are referring to and I couldn't agree more with Matt. I do not recall him referring to her as folksy. I recall him saying she was a dangerous and scary woman because it is quite possible if McCain is elected he won't survive very far into his term and he's afraid of her because she will eventually have the codes for nuclear weapons. He wants to know whether or not she's actually tried to ban books and he's curious as to whether or not she actually believes that dinosaur's have roamed the earth. He doesn't want someone in office that tries to ban literature and that doesn't believe that certain events that have been proven to have occured, have occured because they're all high and mighty about the bible. I couldn't agree more with him. She is a very dangerous woman. She has nothing to offer us except for a very scary future.

"And she's the president. And it's like she's facing down Vladimir Putin and using the folksy stuff she learned at the hockey rink. It's absurd. It's totally absurd. And I don't understand why more people aren't talking about how absurd it is. It's a really terrifying possibility. The fact that we've gotten this far and we're that close to this being a reality is crazy, crazy." I also find his statement about her thoughts on dinosaurs to be pretty juvenile - sounds like something that would come from a 7 year old! There will never be a candidate that has all the same ideas and views that you do, and it isn't pertinent to them fulfilling the duties of their office for them to. The truth is, the Democrats find Sarah Palin to be scary - not because of her views - but because she has fought and won against the good-old-boy establishment and she can do it again - and they know it!

Matt Damon is probably a city dweller and has no concept of how it is for someone who has grown up in a small town where everyone is their neighbor. The familiarity of small town dwellers is something that doesn't seem real to people who haven't lived with it.

I saw the film clip on The View and he was coming across as thinking that he is far superior to Sarah Palin and was definitely speaking as he looked down on her - that because she is "folksy", she is not on the same social level.

I'm fairly sure Matt Damon is an arrogant Obama supporter just wanting to say something bad about the opponent. The funny thing is, the more they try to insult Palin, the better she appears. I think "folksy" is a great trait in a politician.

I have to agree. People can relate much more to someone who is down to earth than someone who talks over their heads.

i know that my comment may be a little too late but, yes, matt damon just went too far with that comment of his on sarah palin. i mean i know disney may be about cookie cutter movies but it's an institution that demands respect. same thing with sarah palin. she may look like a comedy or may come across as a candidate only equipped with her looks but that person was voted by a state and that in itself demands silence to those who may not like her. peace .
