Hurricane Ike

I evacuated from Hurricane Rita three years ago and now it looks like Ike is headed towards my town again. This reminds me so much of three years ago because at first they said Rita was headed for the Houston/Galveston area, then decided it was headed further east towards my town. Well, on a Thursday three years ago, like today, they evacuated towns in Southeast Texas at six in the morning like they did there this morning, and Rita made landfall that Saturday just like Ike is supposed to hit on this Saturday. Wierd isn't it? Well to me it is. I'm no longer in Texas but I still have my property there and still have friends there. I worry about my property and my friends. If you go to www.kfdm.com and click under local news you can read all about it.

Hi Wyldrose. I hear what you are saying load and clear! I live in SW Florida and when Charley hit in 2004 it was just 30 miles north of us. It was supposed to hit about 100 miles away. He decided to make a jog and headed our way... Forty minutes later we were feeling the impact, very scary! Thank the Lord it was a small storm!

I live up just north of Orlando. That same year Charlie went over us. A few weeks later we got hit by Jeanne and then Francis. It was crazy.

It's scarey no matter where you are! Paradise?? hardly.. I just hate this is happening. I still have stuff in what's left of my house plus my friends are there too. I worry about them.

This is why I am so glad I live up here where hurricanes rarely affect us. We do get some rain from them if they go the right direction (like we just did from Hanna) but we don't get actual "hits" up here much. The last time this area was actually badly affected by a hurricane was with Agnes back in 1972. A few have caused minor issues since then but that was the last big one. Those coincidences you mentioned do seem really weird. I hope more people took note of them and got way out of the way. Ike has not sounded very friendly from the very start.

I live in Florida. Hurricanes are definitely nothing new to me. I live in central Florida and 4 years ago we were directly affected by 3 within about 4-6 wks. It was a real pain in the rear. I hope all of your friends take the proper precautions. There is nobody that should put mother nature to the test. Hurricanes can be extremely dangerous for many reasons. I hope you and your friends the best.

Thanks, I appreciate that. Sorry you had to go through the ones you went through. It's really scarey.
