My first job I guess was a leaflet distributer but I wasn't happy in that at all so I left. I guess my main job where I found any kind of happiness though was when I was employed as a Security Agent for a company called ICTS (International Consultants on Targeted Security). I was based at Heathrow Airport and I absolutely loved the job. I used to work nights there with three or four colleagues of mine and our job would be to sit in a car parked between two airplanes, American Airlines and Virgin Atlantic, and we would patrol that little area and make sure that no one went near the two planes. It was quite a responsible job and I was really pleased that I achieved that. I had my reservations! Would I get the job? I guess I felt slightly intimidated at first. Anyway, I worked a twelve hour shift from eight in the evening until eight the next morning. When I started work at 8pm the first part of my job would be to see two of those flights in once they had landed! The passengers would disembark and then I would go on to the flight with two of my colleagues and we would check the passenger areas, make sure no one had left anything behind. I particularly enjoyed chatting with the stewardesses, oh how I loved their American accent! So, I would check an American Airlines flight and a virgin Airlines flight and that would be it for the night. We would then get in our vehicle and monitor the two planes. The next morning, before I finished my shift I would have to see one flight out, it was either a virgin plane or an American Airlines plane. I would reverse the process this time! I would check the inside of the plane, make sure there was nothing in the passenger areas, the cleaners would be finishing off their duties of making the plane ready for the passengers arrival, and then the stewardesses would start to arrive along with the captain and his co-pilot! We had a brief chat and that was very pleasent! One thing I forgot to mention, and I really liked this part of the job, was the fact that after we had checked the two inbound flights the previous evening, the stewardesses would offer us something to eat, the meals were still hot from a seven hour flight and we had the choice of sitting anywhere! This was definitely a good perk related to the job! I would have to say, this was truly one of my favourite jobs! I love Airports and I love anything relating to aviation. I found the job so glamarous, speaking with the stewardesses and meeting the pilots, very nice. I truly miss being there. I eventually left because I found myself starting to suffer with fatigue. I had such a long distance to travel to the airport and it was no longer feasible. Well, there's my story. Now I'm learning all about computers and it's my hope that one day I will return to the airport, but this time hopefully to sort out their IT systems! Andrew

indeed, you had a very noble job. making sure of the passengers' safety is a very responsible and courageous work. i love traveling, so i also love the airport. and it is so scary having no one who watches over the security. with all the terrorists roaming around the world, it is but a must that airports do have well trained security agents, worthy to be called heroes.=) good luck on your career move.=)

I was fresh out of college when I landed my first job as a researcher for an agriculture department of the government. My tasks included writing for two of our publications, creating reports on new farm technologies and drafting the speeches our director needs for his speaking engagements. I lasted 9 months on the job and moved on.
Now, I'm happily writing freelance for several magazines and a newspaper. I'm queen of my own time and it's the most liberating experience.

My first job was the job of a customer care executive in a domestic call centre. I worked in a call centre of Airtel for around 2 months during my college days. I had fun during the first month of my training, but it got worse as i stepped into the real job in the next month.
Actually, I always wanted to experience how it feels like to be working in a call centre. I used to consider that job very easy going. But believe me, its not. When you have to sit listening to customers for continuous 8-9 hrs with the headphones on ur ears continuously and targets set for the day to receive over 100 calls, its never gonna be easy at any time. Moreover, complaints and abuses from customers would rather spoil ur day. I joined that job during the last year of my college as i had some free time, so thought of experiencing the same worth an extra hand of pocket money into my pocket. May be it was a domestic call centre, thats y i had a tough schedule. bu anyway, I learnt one thing, everything that looks easy is not really easy in actual. I tried for a different process and not voice process in another call centre, and got successful too, but did not join it since i had my brother's wedding coming up and then had to focus on my engineering too.
Currently, I am working as a Software Enginnerand i am quite pleased with my job as for now, but that experience will remain unforgettable for me!!

My first real job was a cashier at Checkers. That was back in high school though. I never really obtained a job that dealt with exactly what I wanted to do in life. Now that I am in graduate shcool, I will definitely try to get a job that could possibly be a career.
