Take It With Water..Please !

At work one day I was taking a Goody Powder, and I took it with a diet coke, one of my co-workers told me that I was not suppose to take medicine with nothing but water.I replied the coke helps to take the nasty taste away. Another co-worker overheard the conversation. She said that's not bad I take mines with beer. I asked the co-worker that told me not to take mines with the coke what did she think about taking it with beer she replied never mind.
What do you take you medicine with?
Water?
Coke?
Beer?
Or Other?

I don't take that much medication, only an occasional Advil, but I do take it with water.. I have used coke to swallow the pills but normally it is with water.. I like the fizz from coke, it helps the pills to go down better..

I take my medicine with water but it doesnt mean taking it with coke is bad. Sometimes there are just some medicine that actually are not advisable to take it with soda. Perhaps that is the reason why your co worker advise you to take water instead of coke with your medicine. For me as long as your doctor didnt told you its bad then it is fine.

As a med. student, I advise u guys to take your medcine with water any way.

Hi Chevee,
I don't really thinks it matters because I some take my medicine with coke and nothing has happened to me but most time I do take with water or coffee/tea, makes no difference.

It just kind of depends. I know I should take them with water but, about the only thing I take is ibuprofen. Caffeine works to increase the effect of it, if I remember correctly. If you look on most analgesics or anti-inflammatories, they already have some caffeine in them. Normally, I take them with something with caffeine in it when my head just won't go away.

If the medicine actually says to take with water, then I will. But usually with just whatever I want to drink. My boyfriend takes Goody's quite a bit for headaches and he's taken it with sodas and water and it's never affected him negatively.

I tried to take one time medicine with reg coke and was told it can cause problems so I ended up now always taking medicine with water or sometimes milk.

I heard that it's not good to take pills with caffeen especually if it's medication for headaches. I never take pills with water, usually juice. If I have no juice in the fridge I will use 7-up or pepsi whichever I have on hand but I refuse to take it with water! YUCk!

I do not think that it can be taken with any thing. I think water or hot milk are the answer. Rather doctors would also advise to have it with fresh water or with milk or tea and it will work.Never think it with bear or any thing else.

Hi chevee,
I would have to go along with your co-worker. For the most part I don't think taking it with a coke would hurt you but it might change the chemicals in the medication. Also, I think the biggest reason to use water is because it will help dissolve the meds. and we never get enough water in our daily lives. I'm a true believer in drinking lots of water. But if a coke is all you have by all means you should use it. It's better than taking a pill without anything.

You should take your meds with water always. Just because you didn't have any side effects (stomach-ache), it does not mean that you won't have if you continue to do it. If you can't stand the taste, take some juice, like orange, or anything else you like, but not coke, soda etc.
