I got some ground deer meat, same as ground beef, don't want hamburger or meatloaf. What are some of your ideas for preparing it? Like I said it is the same as ground beef, do you have any good recieps that use ground meat? Let me know if you have a good idea for me. Thanks have a great day. Hardluck.

My son got his first deer at age 13! Biggest brought out of the forrest that season! We had it dressed into sevearl different ways and it fedd us for 6 months of meat. At the end, I just wanted to clean out the freezer so I made beef jerky with it. But we just used it like beef. Hamburgers, steaks etc. Cook it "low and slow" on the charcol say the tv cooking shows. There is a slight taste difference, but nothing other than the same if ou were comparing beef and prok - they all have their own flavors. Just make sure you age it enough - that wild taste is rather tangy!

I can tell you a little secert that I use to change the flavor, get you some bouilon powder, not cubes, you can get diffirent flavors, I like chicken, and beef, most of the time if I'm going to have it tomorrow night I salt and pepper to taste and sprinkle the bouilon on it and most of the time I take a fork and stick it all over, just to let the flavor get in, a sholder or ham is good for this. I know some people put other stuff on it to, but sometimes I think less is more. But this well change the flavor more than you think. I bake it in the oven or on the grill, most of the time with potatos, onions, and carrets, wrap it tinfoil to hold the flavor in. I eat deer meat one or two times a month. I eat a lot of wild game, some thing you may think is gross. But I guess it has a lot to do with how you were raised. Thanks for your response, and tell your son good job. Hardluck.

You can use the ground deer meat in chili. I have had this before and it was very yummy. I don't really like ground deer meat for anything other than chili. We just usually keep the back straps and give the other stuff to friends and family. Sometimes we keep a little extra to make deer jerky.

Chili is a great idea. I like jerky too. Last season I killed a trukey and made some trukey jerky, really good. Thanks a lot, Hardluck.

this is an old fashion dish but one i still love to this day. take your burger w/an onion & brown it in a skiler. when meat geta brown add a can of tomatoes. add salt & pepper& sugar & let it cook slow. boil u some macaroni, when done , drain it & add it to your meat mixture & let it cook awhile. it's great in my opinion. my mother-in-law always called it goulash. it's good w/any kind of veggies & of course you have to have corn bread.

We grew up using it in all the same ways as ground beef. So any casserole, like tator tot casserole we would use it in there! We have used it for meatballs, you name it.
