No,I don't mean Sarah Palin. I mean Hannah. An 18 year old girl from Fairbanks, Alaska who Is a contestant on America's Next Top Model. She was ambushed in last night's episode by at least 4 girls who called her into the living room and asked her if she was a racist, Because she "pushed" a transgender contestant who was moving backwards towards her in a hot tub as if to sit on her lap. No one seemed to notice that this person was moving backwards and got close enough to Hannah to be pushed. Also the footage of the push is slowed down, Making it look much more dramatic than it really is. A Fact that will,no doubt be lost to history.

Do you think that a person should be charged with racism, simply Because someone thinks they had those intentions? Later, when confronted by Sheena and another girl, Hannah described herself as a "stereotypical white person." Sound familiar? is there anything wrong with being a "stereotypical white person"?

I think this situation is absolutely ridiculous. I consider myself fairly open-minded, but I'm not touchy-feely, so to speak, and if anyone came too close to me, regardless of race I would get anxious. I don't know if I'd push them like she did, and actually--since I wasn't there I don't know how much of a push it was anyway. I would be uncomfortable like she was, and I absolutely don't believe that she is racist, just because she reacted to this situation.
I think they totally lynched her from the beginning, they ganged up on her. It's not fair. Well, I don't think her saying she is a "stereotypical white person" is a big deal--she IS white, that IS a fact. I have been watching ANTM for a long time, and I'm pretty sure I remember at least one black model calling herself "ghetto" or some other stereotype that is placed on black people, and I don't believe that most black people think of themselves as "ghetto" anyway.
If people are reacting to her saying she is white, then that must mean that it's now "bad" to be white, and that is wrong! Every person, regardless of race, color, sexuality, etc.. should be proud of who they are, and they should be allowed to express that. We all have our own personalities. That is the problem with ANTM, and the drama, they are all different people. I respect them all for their differences, but I will say straight up, that in the time I've been watching it, there have been girls of all races that I could not stand--white girls included.
I do believe racism still exists, but I think people forget that racism is a two-way street, and I really feel like they are being harsh on this girl, probably to try to break her down.
On another note, what exactly *is* a stereotypical white person?

greysfreak, Thanks for your comments. I couldn't agree with you more. The only thing I could add is that I think it is about time to drop this false notion that only white people can be racist. I think that this episode clearly shows otherwise. I watched it again on Sunday night, and I wish I had been there so I could have turned it around on that girl by asking,"Do you have a problem with white people?" Because it clearly seems that she did.

I watched the episode, but that blew right over my head. I am black and I was surprised that everyone came down on her so hard. I think if someone was backing back on me I would push them as well, so that they would realize their distance to me. I would not call it racism. Just because one was black and the other white????? Come on, how trival.
I didn't see anything racist about the situation. Those girls will always find someone to pick on, just to keep something going, but I love watching the show

Okay so...what did she do wrong? I have a feeling that no matter which girl came at her like that she would have done the same thing. Seemed to me she was doing something I have done a thousand time. Someone backs up, not paying attention and you stick your arm out to not get stepped on on sat on.

I think she was being unfairly called that. Let's say one of the other girls was getting too close for comfort and she pushed them away, would she still be mad?
Honestly I would do the same thing! Girl or Guy/Girl, it doesn't matter, I don't like people getting in my personal space unless it's my husband.
A lot of times people like to take even the slightest comment and turn it into racism when it isn't. Also, a lot of people don't understand that someone from a small small town really has no experience with all of this big city stuff and may say things that are dumb at times without meaing anything by it. Unfortunately now that Hannah is gone she will probably forever go down as the racist b/c she has no time left to prove otherwise.

Yeah I was sad to see her go. But I think she still has a future in modeling if that is what she wants to do. Any client who may know her from this show should be able to see that it was just cattiness amongst girls. I thought she went out gracefully. It was ironic that Isis was eliminated in the same show though.
