Do you agree with a service charge in restaurants?

This summer when i was in Ireland we went to a restaurant which charged us a 10% service charge without warning or notice in the menu. When i contacted the manager afterwards by email, she said that its their custom to charge 5% to 3 persons, 10% to 4 persons or over. However we where three and we were still charged a 10% without any warnings. I don't have any problems with tipping the waiters for good service but I don't want to feel forced into giving tips by a service charge. Do you agree with a service charge in restaurants?

I think I agree with the service charge but I don't do tip the waiters much. I think I have paid already with the service change so I don't need to tip. Have a nice day!

No, this is unacceptable.. You are already paying for taxes, what more could they possibly want out of you.. Tipping someone should be a decision that you chose to do on your own.. It feels like you are getting cheating into paying the restaurant more extra money..
