When I got out to a restaurant I always drink tap water. Our water is is drinkable. When I am going on a long trip I take bottle water along with me so I dont have to stop someplace to get a drink. Most of our restraurants here dont have bottle water.

In USA - bottled water is generally just tap water filtered a few times and without hte additives that tap water puts in like floried and such. At a resturant, it depends on what you want to pay for. Ask for water and you'll get (probably) tap water. Ask for bottled or distilled and you'll get that, but your check will get something too - a charge of $2.75 (or more) for the bottled water. Just depends on what you want to pay for.

Any fountain drink/tea is that high too. $2.75 for a glass of coke or ice tea - any drink like that. Yes you get free refills so in a way you can "drink" you expense, but then you are to full to eat your food -so you take it home (if you are smart and don't just leave what you can't finish!) and have second meal! The bottle water are not refilled tho. I just get water and ask for lemon and spice it up with the lemon and sometimes, add some sugar and make lemonade!

Here in the USA in our town our water is good so I just drink tap water. In fact I drink more water than anything else. You have to be careful drinking to much bottled water and not enough tap water because bottled water has a lot of the minerals taken out of it that the body needs.

When I dine out, I do always order tap water and it's funny that you mention this subject because the doctor I work for was actually discussing this topic yesterday and saying that it is ridiculous how much we pay for water (since we had bought 3 water bottles from the machine) and that till this day he drinks tap water and that he has been alive for 71 years with nothing, he was born in Colombia and then later came to live in the States. WHo knows right, one is only trying to stay safe.

I my country water from the tap is very good too. But if I go out I usually prefer bottled water. But when I travel to some particulr countries, I do not trust the bottled water too. I have seen on the tv that salmonella or some other organisms have been found in bottled water too. So just to be safe I give my child boiled water to drink and I myself use bottled water and hope that it won't be bad. But thats only when we travel. In home we use tap water and its very good. The water department in my city is really very particular about cleanliness and the water tastes sweet too. So I don't mind drinking it.

I don't like spending good money on bottled water when I'm in a restaurant. They always price it so high it's ridiculous sometimes. So I ask first if they filter or purify the tap water that is served. if they do then I'm fine with it. If not then I'll order bottled water if the price is not too steep. I went to a club once and hand to pay A LOT for one small bottled water. Hmf.

I'll get bottled water.. and if not available I'll go for soda drinks.. When at home I seldom drink tap water. If there is no bottled water, I would rather drink pre-boiled water or hot coffee.. Here we use bottled water every time, even on our daily cooking..

i really don't have a preference but usually when out i drink tap water, when i am home i have one of those water jug dispensers and i always drink that just because the tap water at home tastes funny, plus the water in the dispenser is a lot colder so it feels more refreshing

Hmmm, ive never drank tap water for more than 5 years!! Ive drank purified water or bottled water or refridgerated water. When im in a restaurant with my parents they do ask me if i want bottled water or tap water. I always take the bottled water no matter what, even if it costs a extra lousy 30 cents!!

i still drink tap water whenever i go to a restaurant or bring my own bottled water from home... i don't know why... but i think i'm just not willing to spend my money on over-priced bottled water price in the restaurant... that's why i hardly dine in at the restaurant... i prefer to eat at home or take away... it is cheaper and healthier as well as you cook the food yourself... and it is more relaxing as well... take care and have a nice day...

Well, here in our country it is safer to drink bottled water when your in a restaurant. You can never be assured of clean drinking water in the faucet. So obviously it would be better to drink bottled water. Its better to be safe than sorry. I would not mind paying an additional money for the water rather spending large amount of money for hospital bills.

When I'm traveling outside of the US I ask for bottle water. When I'm in the US I don't ask for it when dining out, which now that I think about it is odd. Because, I don't drink tap water at home. You made me think... ummm ... I'm going to start requesting it when I'm dining out from now on. Thanks for the eye opener!!!
