How Many Countries Have You Actually Lived In?

And where would you finally like to settle down . . . for at least a while. I've lived (in order), New Guinea (my birth place), The Netherlands, Australia and the USA. Eventually, I would like to settle down somewhere on a beach either in Southern California, a place like Chesapeake Bay or a seaside village in Italy. One can dream.

Yes.... I would love to settle down on a beach as well. Preferably in the Mediterranean Sea. So far I have lived in Portugal, Brazil, Angola, Belgium, France, Canada and I also lived in Morocco for a short period.

Wow! That's quite a few cultures you've been a part of. Outstanding. I guess my next question would be: how many languages can you speak?

Way too awesome. I can only speak English, Dutch and a few slang words in Indonesian.

:) I guess that's why I am always so open to new cultures, new costumes. I do speak a few languages fluently - portuguese, english, french, spanish - and some enough to get by- italian and german -, but I still want to learn more:):)

I live in U.S. right now... I was born & raised in Seoul, South Korea up until I was practically 14 years old... These are the only 2 countries I've lived in... I'd love to settle down somewhere near the water but up north where weather is a bit on a cooler side all year around...

Up North is pretty nice but the water's too cold. How can you go surfing or swim with the dolphins??? LOL.

I've always liked going to the beach in late fall or early winter... Something about the ocean air during cold season that seems little fresher...

I think that's why I would like to visit the Chesapeake Bay area. A cold day on the beach, wrapped up in a warm blanket by the fire with a bucket of clams, crab or lobster, S'mores, etc. That would be wonderful.

I lived in Seattle for a year and a half. That's probably the closest I'll ever get to Canada. It must be pretty up there. Nevada is nice too--the parts that I've seen. Pretty hottttt though!

Both Scotland and Ireland are extraordinarily beautiful. It's what I've heard anyhow. My ex-husband has always has a fascination with the country of his ancestors, which would be the highlands of Scotland. I wouldn't mind seeing it either.

Only one. As it is I have only lived in one state, California. I was born here and I have no doubt this is where I will die, when my time comes. But that is okay with me as I have no interest in living in different parts of the world.

Im so sad, i actually lived in one country and that is my country Philippines. I always dream of going to Austria, New Zealand, Tibet and Japan and Korea, but I am still saving money to visit one of that country someday. It is good to know that you lived in four countries already all your life.

Aw, don't be sad. You will get to Austria or wherever someday. A little bit of patience, my friend. I have lived in a few different countries but it wasn't my choice. I was just a kid tagging along with my parents, lol. But I did love living in all those places.

I've lived in the USA all my life in Missouri. I've never even visited another country, my choice. Not real fond of traveling. I live in Missouri and St. Louis will be my final resting place. Two of our three kids also live in the area and I want to spend the remaining years near them. My husband and I are both from this area. We grew up 8 miles from where we live now.

Oh looking at it this way I've lived a boring life - answer 1, the USA. I've visited Canada and Mexico both and have lived all over US including New York, California, Texas, Florida. I live in Michigan now, where I was born and will more than likely die. I love Michigan even if I do complain at times :)

No no, I don't think your life is boring at all. I went to Mexico once and forgot my passport, which I didn't think I needed. It took $100 for me to cross back into the USA. Go figure. The border patrol scared the you know what out of me. Enough said. I would like to retire on the beach somewhere but it would be nice to have a farm there. Oh, I am soooo dreaming.

I was born in England, a country in the United Kingdom. When I was 18 I lived in Finland and worked as a children's nanny. I lived in Australia when I was in my twenties. I married an Australian but I am now divorced. Then I studied in the Netherlands for part of my degree. I am really keen on traveling and have been to lots of different countries. Living overseas is a wonderful experience. Yes, one can dream and I hope that in the future you will live in a house overlooking a beach in Southern California. My dream is to buy a piece of land on a tropical island and to have a local trades person build me a thatched tree house. Happy traveling.

I knew you were a world class traveler. Pretty soon, I wouldn't be surprised to see a book published by you about all your adventures around the world.

Hi, gtrargirl. I have never been abroad, but I think that it would be a little hard to live in a foreign country as there are so many things for us to learn about, including different customs and cultures. Of course, if I could have such a chance, I would like to give it a try.

I've lived in two countries so far - Australia and China. The plan is for my partner and I to head back to China in about two years and stay for two - three years, and then head to South America for a couple of years, before eventually returning to Australia to settle down.

I can tell you for sure that Australia is an awesome place to settle down. For me, I would pick a nice spot on the Gold Coast.

I have lived in England for all my life apart form two months when we did try to settle in Norhtern Ireland my youngest son was born there. But that did not work. We are going to settle in Northern Ireland in the end as i love the place and we have family there. Its just a case of waiting until my eledest two children are old enough to support themsleves as they do not want to move away from England.

England is somewhere I would love to visit and stay for more than a week or so. Where exactly are all those castles and things? So much history. I love it. Northern Ireland is a place I know very little of. Anyway, thanks for your input littleone, have an awesome rest of the week.

I've lived in two countries so far. Spent two years in Canada and the rest of my life in the Philippines. I don't really know where I'd want to settle down. i think I'm too young to decide on that right now. The Philippines isn't so bad especially because we have house helpers here and all my friends are nearby. Canada's a really great place to retire though because the government takes great care of the people's welfare. I might live in another place someday though like Australia, Singapore, or the States so I want to experience it first before deciding on where to live for the rest of my life. In a way, I think we're very blessed to be able to experience living in a different country. It helps us appreciate where we live in more.

Well, I can tell you Australia is wonderful to live in and you have a pick of a lot of nice states in the US. Sounds you're living nicely in the Philippines though. Experiencing different cultures can be quite an adventure.

I've only lived in two countries so far. The United States, where I was born and raised and the Philippines where I currently live. I actually want to go back to the US for a better job opportunity and then move back here to finally settle down and raise a family and settle down.

I have only lived here in the USA. I have been outside of the USA a couple of times to Canada, but am happy living here in the USA as well. I do have a brother who has lived here and in Scotland. He is permanently living in Scotland with a wife and son and very happy there.
