I very much liked how the parties came together after 9/11! Wish they could always get along (and actually like each other!) As for nine-eleven it was horrifically sad, I hope it continues to transform into a day of patriotism and also service..

The parties are supposed to be at odds with each other. It is their purpose to keep the other in check. The problem is, they have gone from just being political parties to pretty much running the government. Because of that power, instead of keeping each other in check, they bicker and argue over smaller things while huge things get passed without question.

...I think there is altogether too much rancor in Washington.. But! Then again the freedom to bicker and argue is much better than a repressive society where there's only one candidate or one party to vote for! Or maybe the army is warring for one, and the police are warring for the other, as in some nations, and instead of firing words at each other, it's bullets.. I love a good debate/argument, myself, and to get some good points, even digs in (!
) but not to the degree I see in Washington.. And all those repeated talking points which so many seem to think if they're repeated enough, it makes them true!
