The first thing that I cooked for my family was an english breakfast with bacon and eggs plus some chips. Leaving a minute detail that I almost burnt the chips to black the rest of the food was edible. I was 14 at that time so I did not do bad after all. ~The dog ate the rest of the chips !

I usually cook for my family. Most of the time, it is for my wife and myself. And when I try out new recipes, heh heh, depending on what I cook, most of the time they turn out ok. Seafood is pretty easy to prepare and cook. They are tasty on their own. So go easy on the spices and condiments. That way, you are sure that there is very little chance of going wrong. I just noticed that this discussion was posted 3 weeks ago. So, how did the meal go? Any pictures to show for your seafood creation?

If my memory still serves me perfectly, I remember cooking plain rice for the entire family together with four to six sunnyside up eggs. These were the first meals I cooked for them when I was still a high school student. I started schooling here in the city while my parents lived most of their lives in the province. I only get to come home and be with them every summer vacation, and extended holiday seasons. Aside from cooking, I also do the laundry and take care of my younger siblings. I'm the eldest among four siblings in the family. Both of our parents have separate jobs; working for the government. I feel that these are some of the simple ways I could be of help to my parents and also, it is my way of thanking them for everything they have done and given to me. They did not have to hire the services of a nanny when I was with them. All of these has been almost two decades ago already. Now, I have my own family being married for more than five years and we have one daughter for a child. She has just turned three last month. Until now, we still don't have our own properties, house and land in particular, but we are really striving hard to make this dream of ours a reality in the soonest possible time.

I have cooked lots of things for my family over the years but I think the very first meal I cooked was for a special occasion. I was teaching myself gourmet cooking at the time and I cooked a lovely dish called tounados rossini. It is a lovely dish of fillet steak light fried in butter, then you fry some pate in the meat juices and then some croutons in that. Then you serve the meat on the croutons with the pate on the meat and cover with a sauce from from mushrooms and Madeira or sherry. I always used sherry as I never had any Madeira. This became my all time favourite birthday meal but if I wanted it I had to cook it myself. For vegetables I served scalloped potatoes and peas and corn. The potatoes are baked in the oven in milk and cream, the peas and corn were just frozen veges boiled. I have not cooked this in years but when I was younger I loved it. I still love fillet steak but my partner cooks it now as Fillet Mignon which is delicious. Tonight I am cooking spaghetti bolognaise. Well I am actually just reheating my partner's sauce and cooking the pasta. My partner is a retired chef so I do not do much cooking any more. He cooks most of the dishes. I just do simple things like roasts and reheating the casseroles he has cooked and frozen. I do not mind. He is a wonderful cook.
