Is anyone here using solaris on any of their Servers/Workstations? If yes please do let me know the version and what it is used for.

My company are using the solaris. And the version is 'Sun OS 5.10 Generic_127112-08 i86pc i386 i86pc'. As usual, the solaris unix is used with the oracle for the ERP as so on .

Form the comment it looks like your company is using Intel based servers rather Sparc. How is the performance of solaris on X86? And how much memory does this server has?

As far as i know, the performance in the Sparc is better than the Intel. About the 10 times faster than Intel based...of course,it is said that. In the plain Server,it have the 4096 Megabytes.

Performance with SPARC is far better than normal X86. Thanks for the post.
