Hi all, I just recently signed up for two courses at the local community college. One is in person, but the other is online. I have limited experience with online courses, having only taken one online course before, but it was not for credit. Now that I am taking an online course for credit, I am worried that I will not keep up with the work as much as I would an in-person class. What do you all think? Have you successfully taken online classes? Were they just as beneficial as in-person classes? Did you learn as much? I'm worried I won't get the full experience not being in the classroom with other students. For the class I'm taking (Introduction to Sociology), I think I would benefit from the opinions of other students in the class. What do you all think? Yay or nay for online classes?

I love online classes. I believe in self study, for those who have the motivation. It's not for everyone. I think the reason I like it more than regular classes is that I have the freedom to go to class when I want. That gives me more time during the day to get things done. I'm also a night owl so I learn and concentrate best at 2 am, when everyone else is sleeping. I think you learn more with online classes, because there are some things that you may have to teach yourself as you don't have the teacher standing at the front of the class.

No I don;t because they take out the fun of socializing with mates, saying a joke or two between lessons, teasing each other etc.

Not really... i dont belive in online classes and self study.. i feel more convenient with the class room study.. this method of study may suit to the techinical expert but not suitable method for the beginners whatever the cource, topic may be. i hope most of the people will agree with me..Because in class room study only you can get more intraction with the people and can get more..

I would love to have an online class but unfortunately i don't have the time for it. I'm a working mom so there. But if ever i can have time for an online class probably i would love to finish my degree as a psychologist here. My cousin got her degree from an online class and she would fly to new jersey to take her exams and for the graduation. Pretty cool to me..Happy mylotting!cheers!

Good Morning think I being taking online classes for four years. For me this works out great. I don't have to be in class at a certain hour, I have assignment that need to be done on certain days. We also get opinions from the other students, you are able to read everyone opinion, you don't have to wait until a student finishes with her opinion, you just write your message to anyone you want. the only thing is that your not face to face with them. As a matter of fact I'm be taking that class in two weeks. Some people like being in a class room with the insturctor there. Others like be online, he there at a certain hour, if you have question you can ask and he will write back to you with an answer. So for myself I have enjoyed be an online student, I've learned a lot. it's also much easier for me.I feel that you can get the same benefit from being in a classroom or online. It just depends on you.

My son took 2 online classes last year. The one class was really good to take online but the other one he did actually go to the school a couple of times to meet with the teacher that taught it as it was more difficult. He still did get a B+ though. Online classes at that time worked out really well for him. Sometimes there are online discussions with the other students in an online class. Goodluck.

i have taken an online class once, and i found i didn't like it as much as being in the class room. I prefered hearing the lecture and being able to ask questions right then and there, sometimes i found it hard to keep up with the work but that's just because i would forget every now and then, it's definately a different experience
