Statistics show that around the world, the number of unmarried women is growingly steadily and economists predict it will continue to do so. The TV series "S-x and the City" helped change the image of the single woman in her 30s from one of a lonely desperate spinster to a woman who is in charge of her own economic and destiny. But what is it like being a single woman today? Are single women still seen as social failures, or do men find women with successful careers too intimidating to date? That's the view of Nigerian writer Shola Dada. Do you agree?

As a man I'll speak for myself. I admire any woman that has enough pride and intelligence to educate themselves to better their lives. As for getting married if I was a woman able to take care of myself there is no way I would get married. The odds are too high she would wind up with some man that would take advantage of her and not treat her right. I don't see a single woman as a failure. I see single women as a little smarter than most.

Well.. it is not about good or bad. Some people are just never ready for marriage and commitment. When they are not yet ready, the best thing is to stay single. It is so much better than they would suffer in the marriage because of the commitment they made themselves, or end the marriage with painful divorce. I never seen a single women as a social failure. I saw it as a life choices :)

it's good to be single but only if you want to and if you don't wont to be single then don't be single. I don't see anything wrong with being single be for I met my husband I like to be single there was no one to worry about but my self and now I worry about my family and that just comes with having a family.

yeah, single women are luckier than women in bedraggled marriage.
