rapper/MC

can someone who knows please tell me what the difference between a rapper and an MC is?

If I can remember the meaning of MC is Master of Ceremonies. So the difference is that the rapper will do a tune/song while the MC plays it.

thanks, it must be nice to have a job title that has the word "master" in it!
