Do you think lorry drivers are dangerous?

I drive 600 miles a week and have done for the last two years, mainly in rush hour. I have noticed that virtually all lorry drivers seem to be incredibly selfish when over-taking. I am amazed that these slow lumbering vehicles appear to be driven by people with an amazing selfish strak. They pull out when it is not safe to do so causing other car drivers to slam on thei brakes. Then they crawl past the other lorry at 0.01mph faster causing a massive queue behind. When they finally pull in after over-taking they accelerate away leaving a huge gap from the lorry they have passed making it clear that they could have accelerated but chose not to do so when overtaking - presumably it must be fun for them to cause a massive jam! Anyone else got comments or experience of dangerous lorry drivers or are they picking on little ol' me???

I never drive on motor ways etc, leave that to hubby, but as a passangar I think they are very selfish and think that they own the road. They don't but because they are so much bigger than cars etc they think they can make there own rules. I know they have to get where they are going etc and sometimes have big deadlines to meet etc because of the taka graphs etc. But surely to do it saftly is better than hogging the road. No they are not just picking on you, I think also after they have been driving for a few years they should have to re sit a test to brush up there skills, not nesscary a drving test with a pass or fail, but something to keep them on there toes.Part of this test could be for them to sit in a car and experience what car drivers see. What do others think?

They are but lorries are very hard to drive so it is mainly the vehicles fault that they are so dangerous.

I fully agreed with you that lorry drivers are dangerous or can be named as killer drivers. Driving the big truck sometime you cannot see a small vehicle behind you. Suddenly accident happened. However statistics shown that road accident involves truck are not that many compared to cars. In some countries such as Thailand, they have very unique yet simple road transport act. If accident occur between two vehicles, no matter what, the smaller one is the winner and the bigger one will be penalized. So that lorry driver in Thailand got extra careful on the road since any accident they will be blamed. What do you think for such transport act?.
