Would you ever cut your lunch hour to get extra work done?

I was at work last night and we were short handed in one department, so I had to help out. There was so much to do, so I only took a half hour lunch instead of a full hour and still wasn't able to get it all done because I had to cut my time. (my job hates paying overtime) I didn't mind not using my full lunch hour-in fact it made the night go faster. Would you cut your lunch hour for work? Have a great night!!

Although teachers don't get an hour for lunch, we still very often give up our little 25 minutes to help a student who needs help, or to complete necessary paperwork. It won't handle itself, so whatever the problem is, we need to stay on it. The break is often far less important than whatever the thing is for which we sacrifice it!

I say good for you. However, at my GD's school, the teachers go to lunch and they "go to lunch" and you don't see them till the bell rings. My GD has taken in a can of soup or something that she needed help opening, or heated up, and the teachers were not "available" and the proctors/aids, just told her they didn't have time so "just eat everything else, it's only a few more hours till you go home.." So she went pretty much hungry the rest of the day and her lunch time is 11:15.

That's horrible, coffeebreak! I've never heard of such a thing. Kids come to get us at the teacher's lounge quite often, and almost all of us respond. Very few tell them to come back after lunch. Monitors and administrators are in the lunchroom, and they help kids in any way they can! In fact, kids are sometimes too shy to ask, so they keep their eyes on as many as they can, and offer help where it looks like it may be needed. Still, it's unwise for a kid to have anything in a lunch that needs heating or special instructions, because few schools have the facilities available. I'm sorry this happened.

I take short lunches all the time at work. I'm on salary, so working late or working through lunch makes no difference. I just need to get all my projects done on time, and managing my time is left up to me. I can skip lunch and leave early if I want. Usually, I do try to keep the same hours as the others I work with who don't have as flexable of schedules, so I am avialable if they have questions and so I don't look like I'm slacking off.

Yes I would also cut my lunch time if it means that I will get the work done for that day,There is no harm in putting in a little time for the job and besides when you get home you will have the time you want to relax and rest, until the other day where your back to work again, anyway hope you liked my response, have a nice night to you too.

i only get half hour lunch. i usually get bored by the time it's over. sometimes i just go back to work early. when my boss is there he always says "sit down relax", but i'm not someone that just likes to sit around.
