Did your car make you lazy?

I feel like mine did.
I did not have a car until after I had my second child so I was pretty self sufficient when it came to getting around. I used the train to go out of town, used the bus to go where ever else. I knew about any route to get where I wanted to go. I always walked and even when I wasn't using the bus made it a priority to take walks with my daughter. After I got my car its like it became such a big deal to take the bus. I wonder to myself how things could of changed so quickly but you seriously do become reliant on your car. I decided to boycott my car and only use it for places that are more than 30 minutes away.
Everything is in walkeable distance to me but its just the convenience Im giving up.

I suppose I'm fortunate to not be able to afford a car, since I don't think you're alone in that sometimes cars make people lazy.
My family has two cars, but we've always been hard working people -- couldn't afford not to be.
These days, I'm not setting my sights on a car, because it wouldn't be convenient at all for me. Too expensive to buy, new or old, too expensive to maintain...fuel wise. So I'm opting for a scooter and hoping to get some snow tires for it,and cold weather clothes so I don't have to worry about those long distances.
Everywhere else, I'm walking and biking.
I think our lives and how they are and what they've taught us determine whether we let ourselves be lazy or not. I never really had the luxury, so I guess I should be thankful for small miracles, huh?

I was just watching tv the other day, it was some asian nation not sure which one (or maybe china), but their was tons of scooters and the first thought that came to my mind was, "I wonder if they put kids on those thing!"
I think that is so cool that scooters are raising in popularity and that seems like the most economical choice. I see a lot of them now that the kids have come back to school.

I've been seein' flocks of them all summer, along with a couple golf carts -- our neighbors repairs and sells those =)
Most places, a person has to get a motorcycle license for scooters, but most don't go anywhere near as fast as they can.
I think scooters are popular in both China and Japan, although, I've only heard of little miniaturized versions of scooters being made for toddlers...in Japan =)

Driving a car does make men lazier than they used to be. it's understandable since we are becoming depent on the convenience it brings to us.
but i still think drivers need to get out of their car time after time to have a walk, for short distance, why not have a little walk? if's fun.

I think it depends where you live.
We used to live in a flat that was in the middle of town and close to everything.
So, we walked to school, to the beach, to the shops - pretty much everywhere.
Then, we bought a house. Now the house is not even 1km away from the flat, but it is up a steep hill.
Now, we drive to school, drive to the beach, drive to the shops.
We just about manage to walk the dog - lol But watching the Dog Whisperer, and seeing how he uses roller blades to walk his dogs, we were thinking about doing the same, but its just too tough. The hill is too steep.
I would love to walk a little bit more, but at the moment - its just not possible.
