Which digi camera should I buy?

Hello dear friends,
As i have to go for a field visit for my project I have also to buy a digital camera.I have got a lot of quotations but I don't have much understanding for the cameras.can anyone please suggest me which camera is the best.
Money is not the issue,as I have to pay from the project budget!!

The best thing for you to do is write down the features you want, the price range you will buy, go to a good camera store and talk to someone who knows about cameras, tell that person what sort of things you want to do with the camera and how mush you know about cameras , I did this and got great help from the saleman, I actuall wrote down a lot of the things people from in here told me...

Well the negative phase is that here is no good camera store near by me that's why I want it to buy online.But I want to get the suggestions from here so that I get a good stuff in my hand.
