Any time you post your photos anywhere on the internet, you are at risk of having them stolen. You can help minimize this risk by using watermarks, putting copyrights in the metadata, etc. However, the only way to keep your work 100% safe is to not publish it online at all. But that's no fun! Isn't the point of taking pictures so that you can share them with people? And the internet is a perfect place for that! Not posting your images online because you're afraid of art theft is like not buying something expensive because you're afraid of it getting stolen. You shouldn't be the one being punished when the thief doing the stealing is clearly in the wrong! For anyone who is paranoid about having their images stolen, there is now an image search engine! It's called TinEye and the website is http://tineye.com You upload a photo, and it goes out and finds that image on the internet. So if someone is stealing your photos and posting them on the internet, you'll be able to find any websites your photos are on! Besides exact copies of images, it also finds crops, color adjustments, added/removed text, and slight rotations. It's pretty neat! I've searched a couple of my photos, and I did find other people using them! This is a great tool for helping to cut down on internet art theft!

Wow thanks ever...before I responded to this I signed up for TinEye and plan to do checks of my photos. I now add watermarks to all my photos, but I think it's still a good idea for a photographer to be able to find out if someone is "lifting" their photos and claiming them as their own...Did you download their "plug"? I haven't yet. Oh..still have to work on that other art site DevianArt..haven't had a chance..LOL
