How to change career paths.

Getting to that point that work is almost as unentertaining as a joyride with the drunk cast of survivor. The problem with my situation is that I have been with my company so long that they pay me just enough to fill my tank up to get there. So if I take an entry level posistion elsewhere, then I wont make enough to stay afloat. So I guess my question is... How do I switch career paths without starting at the complete bottom. Are the reputable places or sites out there that deal with this kind of problem? I've done alot of job searching and research. Just wondering if there was some area I was missing info on.
