Bantayan Island: Have you been there?

Ogtong Cave - It is found in Bantayan Island. It's a small cave where water is crystal clear.

Last weekend, we went to Cebu to conduct our interview to 4 nominees of the 2008 Microentrepeneur of the Year. I have gone to 4 different municipalities of Cebu: Consolacion, Lilo-an, Bogo and Bantayan Island. Well, I want to share my experience in Bantayan. I have read in one of the articles that Bantayan island is one of the “best kept secrets” of Cebu province. I should agree with this, because it will take you 2.5 hours from the Cebu City airport to get to Bogo City, then around 30-45 minutes going to the island. Me and the crew went to Ogtong Cave and Resort and was able to explore the place. The place is really nice. Gosh. I went alone to the cave, and I felt like there are other elements in there. Not that I am claustrophobic or so, maybe I am not just a water person. I love the pool, but staying in the cave alone gave me an eerie feeling. Eerie because I knew like it was not my territory and the water was really crystal clear, that my voice inside me is telling me to take care of the surrounding and all. Hehe! So much for my weirdness. I regret that I only spent two or three hours there. Had I known, that the place is worth falling for, I should have prepared my itinerary properly. But then, I guess, I have to go back there. Have you been to Bantayan Island? Please do share your experiences. I wonder if Bantayan Island has the party feel of Boracay Island (but I do hope it does not have because the place seems so relaxing and a nice venue to contemplate on things).

Wow, what an adventure it must have been for you! I'm really envious. Although I'm Filipino, I've traveled abroad more times than I've traveled locally. My family just doesn't make time for local tours because of the heat. I hope to be able to go island hopping here in the Philippines. Not only would it be great for our economy, it will also allow me to appreciate our natural resources.

I guess, you should travel more locally. You will just discover that our country is a place filled with these beautiful places (and beaches).

I have to tell you it's a nice place. I mean, it would be nicer if you go there with people you like (and the place could be such a romantic venue for lovers). Try visiting the place.

I went to Cebu a few years ago... but sad to say i did not have time to really explore the place or its natural beauty... i had to visit my cousin's family... and they in turn took me to SM, Macro, Ayala... or the place which made Cebu a certified city... but next time i go to that island... i will make sure that i will visit great places... like Bantayan Island... which i think is very intruiging...

hi tryxiness, I had the same feeling when we were swimming inside the Ogtong Cave, I also took a lot of pictures inside. we have a friend who has a third eye. he said there are lot of other elements inside the cave. They are harmless just dont make a lot of noise inside the cave because they will be disturbed. As per my friend who is really from Bantayan Santa Fe, the Cave really directs you to another exit. So Strange.. But the place was worth your time, I been there many times and we are still planning to go this summer vacation to bantay. happy mylotting

My sister-in-law is recently residing at Bantayan Island,we often visit this place. The kota beach in Sta. Fe is very nice and it can compare to boracay island.Bantayan Island is a great place and with hospitable people.Kota Beach ccan be considered as the next Boracay of the Philippines.
