Have been surfing the net for the last few hours, when I came across some sites condemning famous tele-evangelists. Now, I know there are some rather good con-artists out there that can be very convincing, but I also believe that not every tele-evangelist is a con-artist. Just wanted to know some of your opinions and why....

This is a yes and no answer for me. I believe there are and were very phony evangelists. But just because there are some out there I don't think that we should label them all as "phony". I watch a couple of them. I watch the ones who are not always out for money and who preaches the word of God. I love watching Jesse Duplanti!

Most TV Evangelist are caught up in the old money trap. Many of them are totally honest in what they are doing but that does not make them right. I have one rule about anything that has anything to do with Christian teaching. If the effectiveness or the continuation of any ministry depends on money then God has no part in it. No one will ever convince me that God is foolish enough to base anything He does on anything as uncertain as money. If it was built with money it was built by man not God. Jesus made it clear to the Apostles that they could do everything they would ever need to do without a single coin in their pocket. God is the only one that can destroy anything He has built. This also includes you the same as anything you do according to God's instructions. Any ministry God has truly built will still be doing it's job even if there was no such things as money. Many Christians are simply doing the best they can with what they have to work with. You can only do what you have been taught to do. Man is teaching man his version of how we are supposed to serve God. We must have God's version of how we are supposed to be serving Him. Man doesn't have this information to share with us. If we can't get it directly from God then we won't ever have it. This is why the Anointing of the Holy Ghost is so important.

I believe televangelists exist as part of the fulfillment of prophecy that the Gospel will spread to all the nations of the Earth, however as you said there are some con artists out there using ridiculous means such as "green prayer cloth" and "mircale water". For some of these evangelists are border line witchchraft practicioners or complete witchcraft practioners. I love the fact that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is being spread throughout the plan but I despise the fact that SOME tv evangelist are taking advantage of the unknowing and innocent of minds and turning themselves into gods. There is a story in the book of acts about a king who made himself to appear divine and the people started praising him as if he is a god, but the king did not rebuke the crowd (corrected) and therefore an angel of the Lord came down and struck the man. The Bible also makes it clear that there is a harsher judgement for those that preach and teach. Personally, I say the best ministry is the kind that you lead in your day to day living. Live out your faith and be who you are meant to be in Christ and your fruits will show and people will see that and recognize that God is with you. Just a thought.
