Avast!!! Pros: also effective on their free version, always updated and the voice and sounds that comes when it is updated and when a virus is detected. Cons: on start up, i observed that it get my pc to decrease on its speed because of it scanners that is totally 6 running on default mode. You? what is the best for you?

also try to tren micro on line scan.. it will take awhile for it to scan, but if you do happen to have a virus on your computer that won;t come off it should take it off. you can either try to take it off in safe mood, or run house call in safe mood to get it off. but we got the trend micro it slows our computer down and takes awhile too load it. but i am going to check the one you said out, so when i work on computers i let people have a choice in what they want..

I also think avast is really good. I especially like the boot-time scan feature. You can schedule a scan even before Windows boots up so that system files can also be scanned.

You are right about the Avast interface, it is really nice and during wee hours I have like a companion when it remind me that the antivirus was updated.) I don't mind much of its startup scan, it just ensure me that everything is clean before I start my computing. Another good thing I like about avast is its scan on boot up, meaning it will scan my pc before even window start and load all its drivers and system files. The only free AV I know that has it.)

I think the best antivirus is quick heal total sequrity 2008.The best part is- it can detect virus or trojan from pc as well as from your mobile when it is connected with pc.The update process is also very easy. You can download this full functional 4 month trial antivirus from the quickheal website. After that you have to purchase the lisense if you like it.

Avast has been by far a superior product. I've been putting computers together since 1993 and have tried most of the AV programs are one time or another. Avast has out performed them all. The free home version has worked flawlessly for the past 4 years. The Multiple Scanners have kept my systems VIRUS FREE for these many years. Avast is easy to use and has never cause an error with any other programs.

To me, Kaparsky is still one of the best. I have been using it for more than two years and have no problem with it. However, one got to be careful how you configure the firewall. Otherwise it will block off most of the sites.

I use Norton Ant-virus most say it is not a good anti-virus but I don't have any problems with it. If I do I am not aware of it. The only thing I hate is the fact that you have to have your subscription renewed every year.

For me, kaspersky is the best anti virus... The second will be AVG... But kaspersky eats a lot of very precious RAM.. So be sure that your computer has lots of RAM or random access memory... For now, the new version of it is the 2009.. I think the new version of AVG is the 4.08... Correct me if i am wrong...

I use Avast! I like it because it is free. I have not noticed any slowdowns. I have tried AVG but just did not like the layout as much. I install this on all the computer I work on (mainly family members.

Mine is Kaspersky Lab., before i was annoyed with everytime i worked with a PC installed with a Kaspersky Lab. but when i was able to have a license copy of the said AV provided bt our company I was amazed of the features and the detection process. I feel so secured with it while surfing the net better than my other AV.

I'm using avast free edition and am satisfied with it. Avira personal edition is also good. Though every antivirus has its pros and cons. What i do is combine the antivirus with other security applications.
