I have a pentium 4 pc and 1 gb ram. I can burn a DVD under 7 minutes. I think your problem will be solved by formating the windows drive and reinstalling it. I am sure your problem will solve after the reinstallation. How much time it takes for burning?

Yes my computer is as fast as I expected. I feel it because of I had p-lV Intel processor and Intel 915 motherboard and I also take precautions of the files in the system and will only install the requirement tools in any software and delets regularly cookies.

My laptop is quite fast. It uses an Intel Centrino duo at around 1.66Ghz. I only have 512MB of RAM though. When I burn a DVD, it only takes around 10 minutes depending on the max writing speed of the DVD. My DVD burner can burn up to 18x but I only burn at 8x speeds as to avoid destroying the DVD. I think you should defragment you hard drive first before burning. If it is still slow, try turning off all your programs when burning. If that still doesn't work, maybe you should buy more RAM or maybe a better blank DVD or DVD burner with a higher write speed capability.

burning dvd's are not only processor dependent but also your burner software,if ur burner software is corrupted or operating system is corrupted ,burning might be delayed, its also dependent on ur harddisk speed, do defragment you harddrive once in a while.
