How fast do you usually read? Have you ever practiced speed-reading to improve your reading speed?

I've tried some speed reading techniques buthavent found any that effectivly increase my read speed while maintaining a decent comprhension level. Id rather go at my regular pace and only have to read things once, rather than try to blast through it and have to read it 2 or 3 times.

It depends for me actually. If it is a light theme I finish of quickly. Or if the book has some heavy weight story I take a lot of time to finish it off. Usually I complete a 400 page novel in 6-7 hours and I never practised speed reading.

I was tested for my reading skills in the 6th grade- 10 years ago- and read at 540 words per minute. I have not been tested since then, but I know I read faster now. I can usually finish an average-sized novel (300-400 pages) in a couple of days.

I can read pretty quickly, but I do not know how fast. I think I read faster than most people. I have always been reading and I have always been good at it, and I'm not sure why. I just am.

I read as fast as I comprehend the text. I am not a very fast reader but that is not a problem to me, as long as I am enjoying what i am reading, I will not care how fast or slow am I reading. I think this goes for most of us. As for speed reading, no I have never practiced it because i don't feel the need to do it.
