Do you think it is easy to move to another country and settle down there?

Since weeks in every TV channel here are new series starting whith people leaving Germany and trying to start a new life in another country. I found it interesting to see how they settle down and start a new life in Canada, USA or New Zealand. But I don´t think they all will survive this experience. And I am thinking of mental surveilance. Because leaving your family and friends seems to be easy at first glance, but in their new country they realize that it isn´t easy at all. So what do you think? Are you able to pack your things and start a brand new life in another country? Wjat do you think about these movers?

i definitely think its not going to be that easy. i mean, im in another country for the past 3 years and i still feel homesick. there's really no place like home and i have to admit, although, life here is pretty much easy and i have a nice job, i still wouldn't settle here! :) i would consider going to the Canada & New Zealand but i will have to put so much thought in that... :)

Canada would be my first choice too. And it this TV shows it seems to me that nobody is making thoughts before moving. Or -and I wrong? Having little money, taking a few pets with them and no job offer in sight, moving to a foreign country seems to me a no go. thanks for your reply Irglara.

We moved from the UK to Spain five years ago. It was and still is very difficult. It took us a while to get jobs, but I was made redundant last year, and my husband is being made redundant next month. I miss my family loads and loads. My mum phones me about 3 times a week, but I miss everyone else too. Life is hard here, and although we have made many friends, lots of them have returned to their native countries. Some because they couldn't get work, some because they missed home so much. We are very lucky in that we are able to go back at Christmas every year and see all our relatives. If we had moved to New Zealand or Canada, I don't think we could have afforded that and that would have made the isolation greater. But what we do get, is a better way of life and better weather. A hard life, but worth it!
