when i gave birth to my first born i was able to move around when i got home from the hospital but my mom and my aunt was very old fashion that i need to just stay at bed or just sit down. but when they are not looking i try to wash the clothes of my son and just move around like the usual but slowly. my sister gave birth just last friday (sept 12) and she can move all around although she under went C-section. i think we should move but slowly and still have long rest to regain all the energy that lost.

i think we are the same. not doing anything at all makes us feel more tiring. when we will not move even slowly our body will not get the right exercise they are used too. the hospital nurses and doctors advice also to move around and do things in slow phase but some oldies does not believe on things like that.

I have had two children, both by Caesarean. The first one was awful, I didn't get up or walk for a day and a half. I stayed in hospital for four days and when I got home, my mum and my husband did pretty much everything. The second time was much easier. I was walking a few hours later and left hospital after 2 and a half days. When I got home, I was able to much of the cleaning, but luckily my mum and husband were around, and still helped me! Unfortunately in the Uk, you are not allowed to drive for 6 weeks after a C-section. Very annoying when you are ready, willing and able but apparently not legal.

I have been a stay at home wife since I got married and when I got home form the hospital with my first kid I came home to chores and a mess and I had to get to it. I dont want to lay down for 3 weeks and be that behind when I get up again. The day I spent in the hospital was a needed rest from it all, but when you get home life goes on.

I'm a married woman for more than five years now and we do have a three-year old daughter for a child. My ob-gyne informed me that I was due to give birth on September 15, 2005. And because I am a first time mom, I relied greatly with the advice given by my mom and older relatives which included, among others, constantly walking on a daily basis so as to prevent me from difficulties in giving birth. This was not hard for me as I worked during weekdays and I took the public transport and naturally, I walked quite a distance before reaching the vehicle's terminal or station. To make it short, I finally gave birth more than two weeks before my expected delivery date. Our daughter's birthday falls on August 27. I'm not quite sure when I really did chores personally but if my memory still serves me right, I returned to work on October 4; much to my co-employees' amazement. But honestly, during my first month after delivery, I practically did nothing and instead, my husband washed our laundry including all my clothes which are stained with blood.

I gave birth via an emergency caesarian operation because my waterbag broke a month early. It took me three days to finally get out of bed, very slowly. I was able to take a few steps to the bathroom. In 2 weeks time, I can move normally and do a few light chores such as washing baby bottles and bathing my baby. But definitely no heavy chores for 2 months. I was able to go back to work after 3 months and do regular things I used to do before I gave birth.

Basically, that depends on the condition of a woman's body i believe, i feel the people who had C-sections can recover faster than the ones who had a normal delivery with episiotomy. i had a normal delivery with episiotomy, there were 5 stiches and it was a very hard time getting around to do chores with the stiches in such place, so it did take more than 10 days for me to recover..what about you patzel?
