I'm a big meat lover. I eat veggies too, but meat's a big part of my diet. So starting today, I'm trying to go meat-less for a month. I don't know if I'll be able to do it, but hopefully I can prove to myself that I can! I'll allow myself to have sweets, which means I won't die. And I'll also have a lot of seafood on the side. So, is anyone interested in joining me? My goal is not really to lose weight or to save the pigs; I just want to see if I can do it. :)

Hehehe
well I can join you my friend! But I think I'm already ahead of you cause I don't eat meat too much anymore. I have avoided it cause I think its unhealthy if we consume a lot of meat. It has lots of fats so its bad for the healh. I prefer veggies and seafoods. I still eat meat but once a week only because we still need meat but only in moderation.
I think you can do it. It's easy cause veggies and seafoods are great partners when it comes to dishes and they're delicious too.
Goodluck!

Good for you! As I mentioned in my previous comments, I actually eat meat three times a day haha! So we're completely opposites. Hopefully when I complete the challenge, I'll be able to change my diet and make it lie yours or just completely eliminate meat from my food intake.

Oh no!
Don't completely eliminate meat in your diet. We still need to eat meat cause meat is still a source of protien, zinc and vitamin B6 and B12, iron and riblofavin and those are good for the blood. The only bad about meat is the cholesterol so you have to eat in moderation only. And mostly, try to eat veggies and fish.
Ciao!

That's great congratulations!
I haven't eaten meat for about 10 years and stopped eating all animal products (dairy, eggs) a little over 2 years ago. I also stopped eating junk food then too.
I really don't miss any of it. My health has definitely improved. It's also just better for the environment and my peace of mind (I've seen pictures and videos of how animals are tortured, pumped with chemicals, and slaughtered).

Wow I can't see myself not eating meat for 10 years! And the junk food! I love junk food! I'm not addicted to it like I am to chocolates, but sometimes I have a really intense craving for chips and salty food. ANyway, I hope this challenge goes well for me. if it does I might just consider extending my meat-free living. I've seen a video of pigs being slaughtered also and it really was sad. :(

A veggie diet is beneficial to the body in many ways…with the correct mix of proteins and carbs a veggie diet can give you everything that meat can give you. so go ahead and let us know how its going.

I went vegan for a week, once. For anyone who isn't familiar, vegan is a diet that includes no animal products whatsoever- no meat, eggs, dairy, anything, not even gelatin or anything that is processed using anything that comes from an animal. Compared to that, I think I could go meatless for a month easily. Of course, my husband and I already eat tofu on a regular basis, so we could cope fairly well. Just make sure that you get the proteins that you need- eggs, seafood, and dairy will do that for you if you're still going to eat them. And don't go overboard on the sweets- too many sweets are still bad for you even if you're doing other things that are healthier. Everything in moderation. :-) Here are a couple of ideas that could help you:
Try crumbling up tofu and putting it in lasagna rather than meat-it soaks up the flavors of the cheese and sauce and tastes pretty good. Also, drain a block of tofu and get as much of the liquid out of it as you can, and then freeze it. When you're ready to use it, thaw it and then slice it thinly. Dip it in flour, and then egg, and then bread it in a mixture of seasoned bread crumbs and grated parmesan cheese. Fry it in a skillet and top it with tomato sauce- it tastes really similar to chicken parmesan! Anyway, good luck!

I don't have a problem eating tofu. My family's chinese so we use tofu all the time. I haven't had any since I started though. And I don't think I can go vegan. :( I eat dairy every day! I have eggs for breakfast and I just love milk and cheese. Yikes! I did some research on the internet last night I'm really looking forward to making bean burgers and tofu burgers! :)

I've been successful so far. it's my fifth day today and I don't have any problems. But one night I had dinner with my friends and everyone ordered steak while I had to have fish. :( I think I'll stay away from eating out as much as I can. I know I cheated with the sweets hehe I've been having chocolate evry single day since I started my no meat challenge.
