Is Jesus only God's begotten son? Then what does the following verse say? Psalms:2:7 I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.[KJV] I will tell of the decree of the LORD: He said to me, "You are my son, today I have begotten you. [RSV] I will tell of the decree: Jehovah said unto me, Thou art my son; This day have I begotten thee. [ASV] I will tell of the decree:The LORD said to me,"You are my Son; today I have begotten you. [ESV] I will proclaim the decree of the LORD : He said to me, "You are my Son; today I have become your Father. [NIV] I will tell the promise that the LORD made to me: "You are my son, because today I have become your father.[CEV] I will declare the decree: The LORD has said to Me,You are My Son, Today I have begotten You [NKJV]

Aren't Christians lead to believe that they are all God's children? Everyone is still sleeping and so I cannot go get my Bible to search the verse you are referring to and my knowledge of the Old Testament is very lacking since most churches that I have gone to do not use it a lot. I have one of those easy Bibles, The New Living Bible. I think if the Bible was searched those words begotten Son would be found more than this time as well.

Hi ZephyrSun, LOL, you made me laugh :) So there is nothing specific in saying Jesus is the only begotten son of God?! If all are God's children how does it make a difference? Anyway I know I'm not a children of God, but of my parents and God is the creator of everyone :D Thanks.

LOL I'm glad I made you laugh. I don't know how many times growing up I heard "we are all God's children". I seen someone say something about Christians and Muslims "fighting" over religion, that made me laugh so much. In my personal opinion if Christians were more tolerant there wouldn't be any fighting. I know that I have never had someone of the Islamic faith ever knock on my door trying to "convert" me and I can't say that about Christians.

that's right friend,Jesus is the only begotten son, no one else was address with these but the Lord Jesus only, compare Luke 3:22,Matthew 3:17 and Mark 1:11..well i dont know whats behind your mind with regard to this issue, and if you have something you want to discuss just dont make a play on these coz it makes others to be somewhat agitated with these so called religious issues..anyway we all believe what the word of God says and God never leave his word void of understanding....christian are called son of God too,we are even pointed out as son through adoption through Jesus,or people of God or the Church of God or temple of God,whichever you like but that word is a sign of belongingness with God

I'm really sorry if you got hurt with this, I was searching for a logical answer for it from the real Christians. My doubt is Is Jesus only the begotten son as said by many Christians while that verse state like that. If so, what does that verse mean. If not, what is special with Jesus as a son of God, while all are son of God.

the verse simply implies the joy of God over his so called only begotten son which pertains to the Lord Jesus and no one else. it is a way of God to show to mankind how he loves very much his own son as humans do, you see if God will speak in heavenly language we will not understand thats why he uses some analogy or human language suited for the message he wants us to know and understand..this is quite a long explanation to do, for this subject deals on the way of salvation God has provided for mankind which God has plan since the creation of man..and the time of Jesus appearance signifies the joy of God finally come for his plan to fulfill, and it is saving mankind through the great sacrifice our Lord Jesus, his only son will fulfill. you see the verse you stated is not just a phrase or a sentence as it seems, but within it there lies a purpose and a great plan out of God,s love for the salvation of human kind..john3:16...if you have any question that might in anyway interest you please do email me anytime that i may help you with the best that i can...so long friend

Actually Harley, Yeshua, how alone lived a faultless life and was in perfect communion with God and who's words therefore take precedence over all over scripture both previous and future, states we are all the sons of God. all the best urban

Hi Hartley, You will I am sure get many other answers here, but we are all Sons and daughters of God, in fact many believe that we are God. The Bible itself says."you are Gods", and Jesus said that the things he did, we could do. Blessings.
